Against all Odds, the SC is King...

So it's quite clear that in the last few months, the Superchargers have seen a massive rise in popularity, both the 4.2 (which is one hell of a lot of metal for the money and great ones can be had for awesome value - a total bargain), to the 5.0 which is now low enough to compete on the forecourt with the diesels and standard high spec cars such as Mercs and Beemers etc.

Everyone has an individual reason for getting one, but I wonder if there's anything more to it, why so many of us are swapping into the Petrol guzzlers?

For me, I follow the mantra that you only live once and you may as well have fun while you're at it. At least I can say I did it, like buying the Sport Supercharged brand new back in 2005 (that felt very special at the time).

Also, I just LOVE V8's, the bigger the better, and the 5.0 usurps the M5 I had.

I work in th oil and gas sector and feel duty bound to support the industry... Whistle
On a more serious note, I don't do enough miles to warrant the need for a Diesel and was actually looking for a sports car but after much thinking the SC covered all bases.
I must say, I'm bloody impressed so far. Regards

I would have another SC in a heartbeat, if and when my mileage dropped to a more reasonable figure.

Until then I'll have to slum it in my TDV8! Very Happy Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I think we're in the last era of the petrol guzzlers and within decade(s) they will all be gone apart from being collectors items with the necessary onslaught of hybrids, super frugals and full electrics.

I hope that I can go to driving a full electric like the Tesla S or X soon, while keeping my SC as my hobby car (hope to upgrade to the 5.0 within the next few years). Or hopefully the conversion market of current cars becomes viable.

For me there is no doubt that solar/wind etc. will be taking over, not soon but irresistibly (and I still continue working in O&G and hopefully I can branch out into wind/wave as well) and following that into full E-cars.

I would even consider doing a full conversion on a L322 if it would be feasible (mainly from a cost of conversion point of view), probably my current one of a newer model as I firmly believe they are the future.

Since I believe this is the heyday of the big fossil fuel burners and the epitome is the Supercharged V8, I "need" one. They are not gone yet but I feel their bright spark is going to start dimming soon and I intend to enjoy that for as long as I can !!!

I have read all the stories about the way a Tesla S drives and it sounds absolutely brilliant and intoxicating but being of the "old school" I am sure I will miss the smell of petrol (that I like a lot compared to diesel that I hate the smell of) and the feeling/sound of a supercharged V8.

I think us (lets say "middle aged") growing up with the petrol engines becoming so immensely capable and "affordable" compared to a few decades ago where the "average" person could never afford this apart from the big American muscle cars that handle like cr Censored p, the attraction is we finally can have these cars and use them on a daily basis and we are all seeing their demise in the not that distant future.

I for example have now decided to complete my trike project as a full electric instead of using my 200 bhp Kawasaki ZZR1400 engine (hence I can put that back together again and enjoy riding that for a decade or more Smile ). The E's are coming and that FF's are going, so enjoy the noise and smell while you can !!!!! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I couldn't see myself driving anything but the Supercharged now. I've owned 3 now (including on sport SC) and they just always put a huge grin on my face.
I've driven Range Rovers since I was 18....(i'm 47 now). Every one a petrol, and never a diesel (Well why have a stallion and geld it???)
On average I do about 15 to 20k a year, and as for fuel costs.... who gives a Censored it is what it is..

Ive not long sold my 06SC... Ive recently purchased an 08MY TDV8 (came about at the write time, right money, write car etc etc)

The TDV8 has the revised interior apposed to my SC and seems to have a much better suspension setup, plenty of power (in some instances feels more powerful then the SC) But the major difference i have found is in my driving style... Now im in an oil burner i seem to just chill out, drive slower! My wife has commented on how much more relaxed a passenger she is in this car...

Maybe its not the growl egging me on all the time???
