I would check the wiring in to the tailgate, Common place for wiring to break as it constantly moves as it comes out of the car into the tailgate. Worse things happen at sea! Well thats what swmbo said when WRENS came to sea!!! |

Aha. I need to double check this in the morning when the light is better and I can be doubly sure, but a quick test with the ohmmeter indicates there to be no continuity from fuse #10 in the boot to the red & white wire at the wiper.

Having taken the fuse block out, the red & white wire had come adrift at the multi plug attaching it to the loom. It looks like the last few strands had overheated. I'm not sure how this would have happened since I've never had the component out before. The motor on the tailgate has apparently seized up as the new one works fine, so once I've fitted it I'll pull the old one to bits and see what went wrong Thanks for your help. |
