Swapped out the ABS sensor, what a nightmare when they're seized up... That did not remedy the problem. Mad

was yours an intermittent issue? or lights on all the time? Very excited to hear it could be something so simple. although I don't see this part in the rave manual.

Thanks for the post... I noticed today it more often than not the errors happen during braking, interesting.

Anyone know more about this brake switch? sounds like it can either be a nightmare to access or a breeze, wouldn't mind shotgunning this issue with that replacement.

thanks again

What exactly does the brake light switch do? I unplugged it and removed it, looks like its magnetic. While it was pulled I decided to drive down the street to see if I instantly got the errors I'm familiar with... Didn't trigger anything, nor did it seem to have any affect on the brake lights... Unless it controls only the 3rd brake light, but I couldn't see that one.

On edit, when it's unplugged the lights are always on, lol... Did some more research and discovered freelanders have an issue with the switch that triggers ABS among other things...

Really hoping this is the cause, nobody has been able to figure this out.

Hi mate had mine diagnosed at the garage were i take my car, i'm not very tech minded so the guy told me that the car thought the brakes were on all the time, even though they wern't he said this was sending all the wrong messages to the other systems. So within 5 mins of driving on they came, HDC INACTIVE, ABS NOT WORKING, BRAKE WARNING LIGHT, AIS SUSPENSION NOT WORKING ,AND ALSO TRANS FAILSAFE MODE every time i went out. He put his diagnostic pad on all pointed to brake pedal switch the one near the brake pedal itself took him about 10 to 15 mins fiddleing all done never had a warning light since hope this helps mate

cheers Tony

Greatly appreciated, when I pulled mine yesterday it looks like the previous owner had some hack mechanic working on that area, screws/bolts missing and the switch itself was not in perfect condition. I order the switch which comes in friday, we'll see what happens.

what year is your range that had this issue?

Thanks again.

~Brad

Well the brake sensor didn't remedy the problem, during the test drive with the new sensor I found myself close to an independent land rover shop, so they were kind enough to plug it into test book and diagnose the problem...

Apparently the yaw sensor isn't functioning properly and they're almost positive that's the issue. I guess there is a recall on that, if for some reason the dealer won't honor it I'll just fit a new one.

It's located under the center console towards the back under the air vent, the entire center console needs to be remove to access it.
