To those who have fitted the tow armature themselves . . .

Have I dreamt this up, or is there a gasket of some sort between the (two) vertical plates and the car body which are bolted to the rear of the body underneath ?

I have a used armature to install, but don't have the instructions. I've read other threads ref fitting and I believe I've seen such a gasket on a diagram somewhere - can't remember where

So, if anyone can help out what the gasket material is, I'd much appreciate it !

I think you are meant to have some. I fitted a used in on mine the other week and just used some silicone!

You will find a thin foam gasket left stuck to the car after you remove the existing brackets, if it's like mine. I fitted a used bar, like Mark said, use a bead of silicone and all should be well.

As stated, when I fitted mine, the seals from original bar remained so I have two new ones in a bag if you need them TDV8 Vogue SE 2009.
TDV8 Sport. Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!

I had a bad water leak that I traced to the armature gaskets - I was going to be fitting a towbar at some point so I bough the Westfalia armature and that came with the gaskets - I did try and search for a LR part number but couldnt get one for the gaskets.

When I fitted the armature, i put some industrial grade gutter sealant around the armature / body joint just be to be sure - it's been fine since  Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....
