Hi Guys, long time lurker looking for some help please!

Recently my 2007 Supercharged FFRR has been playing up - electrically.

The following has gone wrong in very quick succession so I am sure they are all related...

- Rear View Camera isn't working (although it sporadically does)
- Bluetooth Mic isn't working but otherwise ostensibly it's ok (phone can pair, can hear, can't speak)
- Left side speakers in car aren't working (Harmon Kardon system)
- Aux unit and radio - can't switch between them when car is on. Well, you can switch but you won't hear anything. I.e. if i'm listening to the radio, and switch to Aux, the aux will be dead. If i turn off the car, lock it, then get back in, Aux will be working again.

Yesterday, I was checking around the trunk after reading some suggestions on here. There is no sign of water where all the units are. I then removed the fuse for the rear headrests etc while the car was on and then resitted it. This briefly fixed the problem with the left side speakers but alas nothing else. This morning when I came back to the car, the left side speakers were again off.

So I'm suspicious that there's some loose connection somewhere, or perhaps the Harmon Kardon amp is failing (does the bluetooth mic pass through it?) Took it to a local dealer (Colorado) and they quoted me for replacing everything individually for some mammoth fee.

Mmmmmmmm well if you pulled the fuse and it worked for a bit, that indicates the problem is elsewhere in the system.

Have you pulled fuse 49 (dashboard fuse box) yet as per the Gary Elliot infotainment reset procedure ?? Pull fuse, close and lock car, leave for 10 mins, open car, fuse back in.

I suggest to first do a "hard" reset by disconnecting the battery leads (see the Wiki) and holding the clamp ends together to drain the ECU's clearing a lot of faults.

See if that makes any difference.

Next see if you can get the faults of the specific ECU read.

Then start opening door cards and check cabling (chafing/shorts/loose connectors/signs of corrosion etc.)

Oh also check the fibre optic connectors, if they are sitting well and no kinks in the FO cabling. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I think the first thing I will do is follow your advice and pull the battery terminals to reset the system. I haven't yet tried to reset the whole system with the glovebox fuse - I will try that also.

I don't have much faith in my local dealer considering their suggestion I replace every single faulty unit so what is the best way for me to read the codes myself? When I had an Audi, I bought a Rosstech cable for 100$ which allowed me to get into the system and make changes. Is there an equivalent for the RR?

The diagnostic tool of choice here is the IID tool from Gap Diagnostics which seems very good value for money also thanks to very good support from Gap (they are in site sponsors)

Another (more expensive) option is the BBS Faultmate that several other members use (including myself). That is a unit that is similar to the LR Testbook. It even allows for ECUs to be updated with new firmware.

Then there is autologic as well but I don't know much about it.

As for your dealer, don't go there, as someone who just starts replacing high cost components is useless in my book. Unless the replacements are free of charge till the problem is identified and resolved but that won't be the case I guess.

Try bypassing the Bluetooth module as another test.

I believe you just take it out of the loop.

There is a thread somewhere on how to reconnect without the Bluetooth unit in the loop....

You have to align the ends of the fibres "looking" at each other. Push the small blue tab out of the connector and pull the fibres out. You can use shrink sleeve to hold them together in alignment. Worked for me till I got my new module from Wiggs. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
