hopefully it will be nice and scratch free!

Offroad fail!!!! Don't let the Defender owners read that!!! Jeez, it's only paint! Trust me - it can take a LOT of natural (read tree/plant) abuse!?!

I'd have to take a week off to buff the scratches out! I love it looking shiny and ad the end of the day it is a 90% road car for me. I dont mind mud/water/snow/hills etc but I draw the line at driving it through hedges. Thats why I stopped doing FVT with the All Wheel Drive Club - they had some funny ideas of non-damaging. Plus I don't see the challenge with removing paintwork. Negotiating your way through a course that stops everything else on the other hand is why I have a Range Rover.

Nah, it's not *that* bad, an offroad course at a show might have a few stray branches, nothing that will hurt. What I find is that most courses are laid out for Defenders/D1's/Series, which means the ramp over can hurt, as can the width......which is why you'll encounter branches/fronds Land Rover Addict

Thanks Delamo (and Dan) just being slack and lazy and asking you guys as the "experts". Haven't even considered Halfords thinking it was too specialist for them after the guy I bought the car from told me the main dealer price was 120 quid!

Sounds like the bulb your 'guy' mentioned and the one I have available could be the same item...

Is your car fitted with Bi-Xenon headlamp units Question - The individual price from a main LR dealer for one of these bulbs is £108.00 + Vat (from memory) however...

I managed to find eBayers selling either Phillips or Osrams for approx £30 (if you search the part numbers)

but I discovered these bulbs very rarely blow and average 15000 - 20000hrs life expectancy by all accounts.

NOT WANTING TO BE THE BEARER OF BAD NEWS Neutral BUT IF YOU HAVE Bi Xenons YOU MAY NEED TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING...

A more common fault is caused by the ballast resistor packs failing, which is part of the actual headlight unit - at first the lightbulb develops a flicker and shines a brighter light than before, then after time the resistor fails completely so the bulb doesn't light up - The ballast packs are not available separately which means you have to aquire a complete headlamp unit @ £££££'s Big Cry

It might be worth checking that the bulb has definately blown - carefully swap your 'faulty' bulb with the one that still works and vice versa.

IMPORTANT -DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB GLASS BECAUSE ANY GREASY FINGERPRINT WILL KNACKER THE BULB ONCE IT GETS HOT.

You cannot see just by looking at the bulbs, as they do not have filaments, so you need to plug it in to find out if it works.

If the 'faulty bulb' don't light up - a new bulb is required Rolling Eyes

If the 'faulty bulb' does light up - a new ballast resistor (headlight unit) is required Big Cry

SADLY, I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE - HENCE WHY I HAVE A SPARE BULB Wink

My apologies for going Off Topic gentlemen.

Ah yes of course, it is after all a Land Rover show. Wait a minute, I'm sure I spotted a green oval on the front, on the back and on every wheel!

OK, I bought a caravan. Considering the rain we've had recently I don't want to be in a tent when we get 3" of rain.

Get behind me suckers!
