i gather you're referring to the xenons..if they are like my 2009my then the center high beams are there just for looks basically ...check that your main beam shutter is working properly..

Just tried them on garage wall. The xenon doesn't move from low beam position but the inner high beams come on so I take it there is a fault in light units? TDV8 Vogue SE 2009.

Sounds like a system has shut down! Daft sounding but have you simply checked the fuses? |

Totally confussed now. Phoned dealers and asked they look at this while car is in. Quick search of spec revealed that my car has xenon and not bi-xenon but they will check them. I guess xenon is only dipped beam where bi is high and low. Anyone shed any light ( |

Odd, never heard of a FF without bi-xenon... Its a flapper motor in the headlights that lift the beam pattern on full beam, as far as i know they are all bi-xenon! |

probably techno jargon, to further differentiate the standard xenons from the active xenons......

My 2005 (on a 54 plate) doesn't have bi xenon lights. It has xenon low beam lights which give fantastic beam & then a halogen main beam which work very well as a pair. I was up at my mates farm this evening & the estate (Craigengilan estate) road is over a mile long with tree's on either side so its very dark & I can honestly say that the headlights are the best that I've ever owned. A little history point, the estate used to belong to the McAdam family & the road was the first McAdam road on the planet but the first public McAdam road ran between Ayr & Maybole! History lesson over but its a cracking pub quiz answer |

AK why do you think yours are not bi-xenon? dont flash the full beam, put the headlights on against a wall then push the mainbeam stalk forward. You should see the headlamp beam pattern lift |

Ah many thanks Craig. I've just tried that little experiment & I now know a little bit more of the cars spec. |

Well my system is shut down but the fuse is complete and the units work as should do when tested by computer. Just don't respond to stalk. Lots of head scratching and sent the car off to body shop to replace the tail gate and its rust problem. Will look at lights again tomorrow and also supply and sync the remotes for park heater that were missing. Big |
