Indicator flashing ---

---when it is not meant to be.

While out today the right hand indicator started flashing at random for a few seconds at a a time. If I turn on the left or right indicator or the hazards all work normally, the random flashing is only when the indicators are off. When it did it again further down the road I stopped and checked outside and the front, back and side indicators were flashing as well as the dash indicator light.

My thoughts are that it could be a problem with the indicator flasher unit, would anybody have any thoughts and would anybody know where the flasher unit is located.

When you say random, do you mean flickering, or flashing at the same rate as though they were working normally? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I tend to agree that it could be a dodgy relay, or somethings energising it, like a dodgy connection on the steering column or slip ring.

Can you "provoke" it by putting the steering wheel in a certain position? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I did not try provoking it but it was just during "normal" driving not at full lock or any particular angle. 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone

Sounds like one of those problems that'll be hard to trace. Not sure how much a relay would cost, but you have to start somewhere I suppose.
If it happens very regularly, maybe you could find a friendly local to swap relays with and see if it the fault moves to the other car, or stays with yours? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

When you are parked, try turning the steering wheel about gently to try and get it to flash. Also, try and Gently tap the indicator stalk and see if it flashes.... Previously..
