Both the National and Opie oils online selectors recommend Castrol Magnatec 5w30. Not sure how sensitive these turbodiesils are to type of oil. I would have thought any 5w30 fully synthetic will do. I've got a load of VAG Quantum Longlife 3 from my S6 that I'll have no qualms in using in my next oil change. |

I did my oil at the weekend and a genuine filter and shell helix HX7 (Which meets the ford spec of the TDV8) which cost me over £60 quid.

Sticking with this for a second I have just been on the opie oils web site and the Magnetec oil works out at £71.96 for my car and then there is the filter so for 85 quid its a no - brainer?

Just rang my local depot and they want £72.50 inc vat and they confirmed that they will use Castrol Magnetec 5W - 30 and the guy even knew it takes 9.5 Litres so that gives me confidence. I asked if they change the sump plug and he said only if I paid extra and specified - but more than welcome to bring a genuine filter and sump plug he said.

If you have a diesel with a DPF fitted use only the recommended oil e.g. the 2012 FFRR oil specification is WSS-M2C934-B which is a low SAPS oil.

As I say - Opie oils are selling Magnatec for £71.96 for 10 litres at the moment and I assume there's a delivery charge to go on that - so its a no Brainer. |

This is one of the oils to get from Opie Oils, it has the correct specification for diesels with DPF's. The Castrol Magnatec appears to be for non DPF fitted engines.

Perhaps before you take the vehicle in for an oil change you should watch last weeks edition of "Don't get done get Dom" on BBC Iplayer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01s9...e_Trouble/ MY15.5 SDV8 4.4 A/B FFRR Mariana/Ivory
