£650 is what I have been quoted by my local stealer for a new alternator on my TDV8. Mine just has a whine from the bearings, so not getting it done till it fails 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Thanks for the feedback, so far have been quoted €350 in parts which sounds about right but the labour is estimated at 7 hours which just sounds wrong.

Sounds like they are quoting for the Sport TDV8 which I think is a more complex job beocause of space, body etc.. Others will advise if that is correct or not. |

I seem to remember that £650 all in is about the going rate at a md, little bit less at a indy, its quite an involved job as you have to remove the rh turbocharger aparently which also invlolves removing the starter motor and a cat.

No you don't ![]() It's all done from the front. No need to go near the turbo's or exhaust... |

Have done quite a few ![]() All done from the front of the engine. Coolant needs drained, fan cowling and fan comes off. Belt comes off, a few coolant hoses need unbolted from the front of the engine. 2 bottom bolts on the alternator are a bit awkward to get to, and its a tight squeeze to get it out of the engine bay, only comes out and goes in 1 way, but easily do-able I have done plenty of How-To's on the D3 + RRS forum. Maybe it's time I migrate over here for a while ![]() ![]() |
