Idealy i think the tyre needs to be 1-2" onto the lower tailgate as you lower and the compressor in the 2005=> models isnt that sensitive to the odd little knock from a wheel if your gentle |

I've found it's a bit of a funny fit with a MY2007 car. The handle doesn't quite fit in as snugly into the wheel well as yours does. A bit of faffing and it does fit to the side and overall it makes getting tyres in and out a LOT easier. |

Funny I've had my wheel in and out several times and never found it particularly heavy. That said my G/F is insured so it would probably be a decent investment anyhow- She's far too handy to call the RAC!
