Navcoder

Hi

Does anyone know where I can buy the hardware for navcoder? I know I can get the software from the website but where can I get a USB cable to plug into my laptop/car?

Thank you

AFAIK, the only way to connect up the PC with navcoder installed on it is to use the Resler USB or Serial interface from here:
http://www.reslers.de/IBUS/index.html

This is what I have in my FFRR:

I got a cable from BMW cables on eBay. It was listed as working with a few bits of software, including navcoder. Came with some cdr's with BMW tis software and Ebas I believe, but I didn't use that. £20 something if I remember right. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Thanks for the offer, I live in Leicestershire, I don't mind buying one, just want to get one that will work and is easy to use. Is the one from the link above just plug and play?

It goes in the obd2 connector that is in the little compartment near you right knee as you are driving. It's a few inches under the light switch. There is a black cover on it that you will have to pull down.

I have a duster in mine for cleaning the screen. The connector is pointing downwards........

Good luck with the obd cable. I bought one and I didn't work. I then emailed the navcoder guy and he said not to use the obd port. I ended up buying a serial port version in the end and soldering the cables directly into the can bus line

Agree with Noddy, from the navcoder site:

Quote:
What you need to use NavCoder

To use NavCoder you need a laptop with Windows (anything from Windows 2000 to Windows 7; it may still work on Win95, but I cannot test it on Win95 any more) and an ibus interface.
The ibus interface is the necessayr hardware interface to convert the electrical signal of the BMW ibus into good old RS232 for the laptop.
You can choose to make your own ibus interface, using the circuit diagram supplied in the NavCoder installation directory. It's simple and cheap, costing much less than USD $10 in parts.
Or you can purchase a "Resler interface" from Rolf Resler. Have a look at Rolf's website. Rolf's ibus interface is available as a USB version or a good old serial com port version. Choose what you want based on what ports your laptop has available.
Both of the "Resler interfaces" are 100% compatible with NavCoder.

http://navcoder.com

As I mentioned above, I have used the resler interface with success. .
