2007-2009 door card panel LED lighting set up

OK, so I got hold of the new style door cards and installed them on my 2004. I have just driven the car at night noticed that the door cards light differently.

The drivers door illuminates the door handle scoop, release pull and storage bin, but the passenger door only illuminates the release pull and storage bin.

The rear door cards only illuminate the release pull, but not the storage scoops or handle scoops.

Is this normal, or do I need to remove the panels and check the LEDs on the three door cards? Tom

There are holes for the LEDs and the wiring seemed to be there, I forgot to check the LED positioning before installing. I might take a panel off today to check.

I did not notice any airbags or extra wires (other than the tweater speakers all had spare wires coming off the fronts and no connector plugs for the rear) For the rears I just jammed the wires into the connector and it seemed to work, at least for the moment. Tom

Pre-2007 the airbags are in the doors, post-2007 they are in the seat (hence the loss of upper back adjustment). So essentially you've removed your side impact airbags.

Just opened up the panel and you are right the door frame has the airbags for the front doors just next to the lock pin, on the old panel there is a special membrane with netting to split when the bag detonates, the new panel does not have one due to the airbags being moved to the seats. I wonder if the newer seats could be fitted and the airbag wiring loom diverted from the door to the seat.

The newer door panels are much better looking than the old ones, and seem to be more comfortable.

I have disconnected them for the moment so as not to cause an issue with the panel. Tom
