On the lookout for a FF for the wife (child number 2 due very soon).

We have seen a 2003 TD6 Vogue advertised locally with 79k for £10k. Last serviced in December at a local indy. 6 months MOT/Tax. Might be going to test drive at the weekend, but what's the price like?

Still undecided as to whether to take the plunge and go for something this old - wife currently drives a 2008 Peugeot 308.

All thoughts welcome!

£8-9k tops unless its in awesome condition and 100% fault-free (well the big probs anyway)

an "old" FF is better than most new motors....  free use of "RSW" all comms to anyone nearby

A 2008 Peugeot is still 'old' in terms of what it is compared to a more premium manufacturer.

And you already have a 2003 V8, so you should be familiar with the quality and what to look for.

But a Td6? A V8 would be cheaper to buy and, for not many miles, as cost-effective to run.

Age is not a problem. It all depends on how it has been looked after and driven. Condition is KING!!

I have had a 2002 TD6 HSE for 4 yrs and now have a 2004 V8 petrol (LPG). Both have been damm near faultless. My latest was bought from another forum member and people cant believe what good condition it is in. It also drives brilliantly and with LPG is actually cheaper to run than the TD6 (V8: 27MPG avge Vs 25 MPG for the TD6)

As for my first FFRR, I bought it undriven/unchecked from an auction with the advice of a motor industry professional and it never put a foot wrong. I drove it through Europe and had it for 4 years problem free. Sadly It is now sold but I will always be hugely grateful for the gentle introduction it gave me to having a rangie.

I will never have any other car from now on. Once you drive one, you will never want to drive anything else.

Bellini: Not sure where you got the idea from that I already have a RR?! I currently drive a Discovery 3.
