No Craig it's not , the guy that was making to measure is mucking me about to be honest ...... Says one thing and does another ..... This one comes ready made and there claim is it can keep the dogs cooler by 20 degrees and supposed to be warmer in the winter.

As said in previous post , my concern is wether it will catch the rear speakers but hey I am probably over thinking it Embarassed

If you look closely at it it has two big handles for pulling it out and yet again probably over thinking it might conflict with the upper tailgate.

The only way to know for sure is a drive to Lincoln Big Cry

Surely they must have library pics of them fitted to FF's? All the boot areas are the same (although the early ones are missing the speakers as you quite rightly said) worse case scenario, the early model D pillar covers without speakers are less than £20 a side i think and could be fitted without the speakers (and dont effect the normal radio sound much)

Craig Thumbs Up

Thanks Craig ...... They seem like really nice people to deal with but when I spoke to them last they were having problems with getting the library pictures to go into an email so the pictures I got were apparently taken on a mobile phone then emailed but they did explain it would be a picture of the cage in there warehouse and not in the car.

Going to ring again monday morning and see what there returns policy is because I really don't see the point of doing a 300 odd mile round trip.

I think it would be perfect if it did fit and with your suggestion of using the venture cam ,I could put the mount on one of the side walls of the cage and that way the boss could keep an eye on them.

Funny thing is not sure how they are going to react because with the V70 they are used to looking out the back window , but with the Rodney I think they would have to sit and not lay down to be able to see out of the back.

have just measured between speakers and I made it 41 and a quarter inches between speakers but knowing the way I am I will be apprehensive until it arrives , thats if I can get the deal I want with some added bits like a good quality boot liner that has the rubber flap that would protect the tailgate. Or maybe ebay for a rubber boot mat ..... hmmmm now thinking will that put the hight up .... grrrrrrr ... why do I have to over complicate everything Embarassed

Well the dog cage is ordered and nearly had another heart attack when I was informed of the total price Crying or Very sad

Started out at £455.00 for the standard cage as seen in the picture , was going to order the basic cage as the information I was given on friday i.e. :- the grill section just pops off was incorrect Exclamation so after a long winded discussion I agreed to pay the extra £65.00 for the escape hatch which the explanation of said escape hatch concerned be because all they do is extend the rear grill viewing panel and make it removable and also ordered the bumper protecter which am not even sure if that covers the whole tailgate , another phone call in the morning.

After ordering I was having a think about it and wasn't happy with the idea of just the upper grill section being removable so back on the phone and a lovely lady called Michele said that they could make the bottom plastic section removable as the escape hatch and leave the viewing grill as it was and I was much more happy with this as one of the boys weighs 40 odd kilos and didn't fancy the idea of trying to lift him over the plastic section. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

All in with Fedex delivery £588.00 Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

But hey they are my boys and there safety and welfare comes first and looks like I will have a full size cage before the 21st of June and will be ready for our two week break in the New Forest at the beginning of Jully Very Happy ...... Now I can only imagine what the comments are going to be to the total price but as long as it gives them the most available space , thats good enough for me Thumbs Up

Couldn't believe how much bad luck one person can have .... rang the company that supplied the cage and assured me that they were building me a new one , well this one went straight back on the truck and am now going to have to wait another week for the new one to arrive ...... life just seems to get harder and harder Evil or Very Mad

I have no idea and coming from a long term background in trucking and transport I couldn't believe my eyes.

Will not name the company concerned and the funny thing is I have worked for them in the past and was actually really happy when told the courier company they were going to use to transport the cage ....... even paid extra for overnight.

Funny thing was the Boss was hoovering the back of Rodney for the cage to go in as I had contacted the courier to find out when they would arrive and was told it would be in a 7.5 tonne truck and would be there in ten minuets.

When I first saw in on the truck it was on a pallet and all looked ok.

He got his pump truck on it and dragged to the back of the car and it was then I noticed the hole and of course I has to open the packaging around the hole to reveal what you see in the picture.

Straight on the phone to the manufacture to tell them and they said just refuse it and they promised they had already started to build me a new cage as I explained there was no way I was excepting them repairing the damaged cage.

So came so close and then watched it depart back onto the truck and will now have to wait until some time next week before i get a replacement.

Was so damn angry as we had made plans to go out with the hounds and as Rodney is the replacement for the Hearse we cant take them anywhere until the new cage arrives.

But hey these things in life are sent to try us and I am beginning to think I must of been something really bad in a previous life for the amount of problems that are coming my way at the moment Evil or Very Mad

Oh meant to add the driver actually admitted he had put something on top of it but hey why should I get him in trouble ..... knowing how fussy this company are I would imagine he is in for a roasting as it will cost the courier company for the damage done in transit Whistle

Think its going to be a bit strange for them as in the Hearse they could easily see out the back but with Rodney they would have to sit upright to see out the back window.

But I got what I wanted for them as in having the full hight which means they can stand up without any problem and they couldn't do that in the Hearse anyway , so all good ....... will set the venture cam up in there so the Boss can keep an eye on them to make sure they are ok Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Its defiantly a snug fit Stan and am really happy with it .... will have to take some pics of the hounds first run as we have a new ramp ( is second hand but as good as new ) as our old one was a two section aluminium and the new one folds in three and is made of heavy duty plastic so it would fit on a passenger seat , shame its a bit to bulky to fit down the side of the new cage as that would of been ideal but hey ya cant have everything the way you want it Thumbs Up
