What sort of offroading are you intending to do that requires the sump/tank guard? Land Rover Addict

Unless things have changed - you have a few advantages, one being your ability to lift your suspension (and then the vehicle can lift even more if it feels bellied), a kevlar skid plate under the engine and a well designed underbelly - the only thing you might feel a bang on will be the gearbox crossmember and it is plenty tough enough! Unlike the D3 and RRS there is no redundant ladder chassis as well :s

I've done some pretty extreme stuff in a 2004, 2006 and 2010 and never worried about the underside tbh - also bear in mind all that extra weight = less mpg Sad Land Rover Addict

Bear in mind that emergency response 4x4 is mostly to get through when the weather is bad.
Such as using roads and tracks where normal cars can't get a doctor through due to snow etc...
I could be wrong, but from what I've seen it's not about hardcore offroading.

I'm sure there are many members with Defenders dying to offroad them for a good cause if the need should ever arise to do the OTT stuff... Smile

As a FULL responder I do know what is involved.

But as the terrain up North is a bit different, to down south I would rather err on the side of caution.

A couple of £100's on a guard and a little less MPG is prefferable to a holed sump

I think you'll have to bite the bullet and stump up for a Mantec one then.

Because of all the offroad equipment people I've dealt with I've never seen hardly any L322 parts. I don't believe demand is high enough to make them cost effective. Which is probably why Mantec are the only ones as they made them for the G4.

I may be wrong. But I don't think you'll have an alternative unless someone can make you a one-off. But even then a well known tried and tested Mantec one is still preferable.

EDIT:

Checked my catalogue and Terrafirma do one, but it's aslo from Mantec.
