Don't know what a VC dock is but this may well be the part I'm missing. The cam has 2 contacts on the underside which I assume are for connection of a 12vDC supply (from the car) for charging purposes. So all I need is a VC charging holder (dock?) and from there I just need to wire up a cigarette lighter plug. As the VC uses bluetooth for comms to the head unit in the dash it is just a matter of temporarily syncing it in place of any mobile phone currently synced.

Hmmm....further research reveals the need for a docking station. Not only for providing a charging connection for the cam but also for receiving the VC signal and transmitting it via a canbus connection to the head unit.

Sorry to add to the problem but as far as I understand it, the dock uses Bluetooth for sending commands / establishing the link. But also uses a seperate frequency to transmit the picture part of the signal back into the AV system.

Dan, can you give me an idea of the complexity on retrofitting to my RR? Is it a simple job or is it likely to be a show stopper requiring significant trim dismantling? 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Baltic Blue MY11 |

Good point, that would probably do just fine. I'd just like one for when I'm reversing up to my trailer hitch. The reversing camera placement is a pants design because its in the wrong place. Should be beside the number plate lights. The neep who decided to put it above the rear window should be shot! 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Baltic Blue MY11 |
