So yesterday finally got the FF back after two f ing weeks while they repaired the condenser fan and the control unit since somewhere there was a disconnect where the signal to activate the fan bounched around but nothing happened. Anyway after two weeks I got the car back Friday night... 1 hour later or so trying to open the bonnet and don't know what these jurks did but on one side (passenger side of a LHD) the bonnet release is stuck...

Have been searching the web and tried this afternoon for about 1.5 hours to reach for the cable but no success... Cannot get to it in such a way that I can pull or push the cable. Afraid the drastic method will be to break the grill to get easier access to it but hopefully some other way is possible without any damage...

F ... One problem solved to deal with the next... Since I will be traveling next week this will have to wait a week or so but if anyone has any suggestions in the mean time, which will not require explosives or other type of demolition work I would appreciate the help!!

So the drivers side will release and the bonnet can be lifted a bit but the passenger side completely locked and will not release... Tried to pull and push while the wife was pulling the release in the car but no luck.

Are you sure its not releasing and not just stuck in the hole? 1st did they remove or re/align your bonnet? We have had a load of instances where bonnets will not open after being adjusted (or removed and refitted)

Get a few people and whilst one pulls the catch, the others try to move the bonnet left and right forwards and backwards with a little weight above the catch and usually "voila" it will pop open...

To answer your question, no they didn't do anything on the bonnet itself or even re-align it. However looking at my grill I got the impression they have had the problem during the 2weeks as well since I noticed scrathes on my grill which I'm pretty sure were not there before. They are really scratches and not damage from debris from the road so I'm even more !!

Will not be returning to them anymore but they had to fix the issue with the condenser fan, etc. since this was partial warranty when I bought the car. Now I can go to the Indy I used when I had the Discovery before the FF.

By the way Craig, there are some rumors within the company I work for that I may be re-locating to the UK... If that's indeed the case I will look you up for a nice FF. Looking at the price differences for cars in the UK and the Netherlands I will probably be looking for a TDV8... now just keeping my fingers crossed that the rumors are based on something and not just someone not having all the correct information or understanding it wrongly. Mike.

Lucky you, escaping the BPM scurge of Holland (blasted idiots).

I'm thinking of taking mine with Nigeria plates and parking it in Holland for when we are on leave. I can do that since I am a resident in Nigeria, so it is legal as well. No road tax, low cost insurance (here). Then convert it to LPG and laugh even harder !!! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Eugene, keeping the fingers crossed but it would definitely be great to pay less for a more recent model car... The freeking taxes they charge on cars over here is bloody robbery!! But nothing sure yet so have to wait to know more before we get to excited...

In the mean time just noticed a new problem on the FF. For some reason my mirrors are now flipping in opposite directions when I press the switch to move them inside against the window when parked. This wasn't there before so must have happened during the last 2 weeks as well like the bonnet issue... anyone any ideas how to get the mirros in synch again??? Mike.

After checking out Wiki found the procedure to re-synch the mirros... The double tapping didn't do the trick so just kept tapping till I upset the ECU enough to reset the mirrors... at least now they are in synch again  Mike.

Quick update on the original topic... Today went to my Indy trying to get the bonnet released again. Turns out the release pin of the lock on the passengerside (LHD) has some small plastic part which has broken off. So the release cable still works but due to the plastic part it doesn't release the lock. They could force the lock but then no way to keep it closed again till a new lock has been installed and since I want to keep driving the FF we decided to order the new lock first and then finalize the repair next week.

Now the interesting part how the mechanic got access to the lock... FF lifted, mechanic squeezed in the wheelarch behind the wheel standing underneath the car, with his arm straight-up with a screwdriver he was able to reach the lock. Haven't read that method before on the web but certainly easier then damaging the grill or headlight. By the way, you need to have a mechanic of small size otherwise he will not fit behind the wheel in the wheelarch...

Will keep you posted next week how the repair goes with the new lock. Mike.
