Thanks for that .... and the bit of mikey taking i.e.: the water fairies but we do have friends that were involved in a bad smash and they were able to get the dogs out of the escape hatch but hey we all have different opinions and i would prefer to have the option of the escape hatch and looking at the cages from CAB , well the fact there is no ventilation would bother me for a start, yes you can add ventilation but yet again this is my own personal outlook but I think I will be going back to the manufacture who built the cage we have in the V70 as there is all round ventilation and is very well made and it will take advantage of the full hight and it will have an escape hatch

ah come on sometimes leaving them in the car for five minutes is inevitable; this alarm idea would work better as an app too

Not sure If I over reacted in my last post as baldylocks was only trying to help in his comment but would like to take the opportunity of apologising to baldylocks if I did over react.

It was only after the Boss ( my amazing wife ) who explained to me what the water fairies were as she works with a lot of ex policemen in her job and to be honest it was only when she explained that my brain worked it out

I make no secret of the fact that I suffer with severe depression and other horrible mental problems due to life events and living with chromic back pain and can over react.

i can sympathise with you Muttley as i to suffer from back pain due to getting an infection after a routine operation to decompress my sciatic nerve..i now have arachnoiditis and have to take pregabalin and tramadol to help ease the pain and as you probably know one of the side effects of these meds is depression, so you are not alone mate.... ... - .- -.

Thanks Stan .... without wishing to derail this thread ... i think they have tried just about all pain meds possible and the crazy thing is pregaballin did help but could for one only get on private prescription = costs a fortune and two they really screwed my stomach up to ... have been on morphine patches then fentanle patches and recently put on Oxycodone which are 12 hour slow release tablets topped up with Dihydrocodeine and with some Diazapam in the mix and on top of that a load of meds after having a heart attack in 2009 and yes due to life events and the meds = severe depression and really bad anxiety among a list of other things I would rather not go into and I contemplate suicide on a daily basis

Really appreciate your comments as I know I tend to over react to some things as am where I am in life and am very passionate about my hounds and if I was to be totally honest i prefer dogs to people ........ have had way to many so called friends spin on me but funny thing .... never had one of my dogs spin on me.

I think the alarm is a vey good idea and to be honest not a high price to pay , as for me personally when we go away on holiday which is coming round really quick the dogs rule the back of the car and the rear passenger area is stacked near enough to the roof but always leaving enough room for the vents on the Volvo to pump air to where the hounds are but with the Rodney I am entering new and unknown territory and believe me I am sick of looking at the different cages out there

And as said in a previous posts the Lintran cages where appealing purely because of the alleged keep your dog cool in the sumer and warm in the winter but ... this is just my opinion the fact that they have solid sides bothers me and the same with CAB , its a solid box unless you ask for vents and just looking at the pictures makes me think how are the going to stay cool in there .... was even thinking and I know this would spoil the car and probably sounds totally mad was to have one of those roof fans but the main thing is having a cage ready for the holiday and i don't mind admitting the timeframe is getting scary especially when the car is still 110 miles away with Craig but hopefully will be ready for tuesday.

http://habornproducts.co.uk/live-updates this is the company my current cage you see in the volvo came from and he will build to your spec and measurements and he sent me i think why is known as a technical drawing to take the measurements but I hate to admit it am to good with measuring things and these measurements ar crucial and its not even meant for the V70 , was meant for the 850 we had previously but with a bit of a squeeze and a bit damage to the outer trim of the car it fits and it saved us shelling out for a new cage and has served its purpose really well and is damn strong to.
