Hey peeps , first of many posts from me ...... this is my all time dream car and I have to say am extremely happy with it.

First of all would like the say a huge thanks to Prop for making a 120 mile round trip to view the car and as he has a good knowledge of Range Rovers it was really appreciated and a huge thanks to my friend John who drove me the 100 miles to see the car.

Presenting my 4.2 litre Super Charged Range Rover .... picked it up on the 16th of May Mr. Green

I have to say that the seller made the whole experience a bit unpleasant as he was of the opinion it was worth more than I was prepared to pay for it and this made me feel bad for Prop and John but all worked out ok in the end , all be it extremely long winded getting the deal done.

So far have managed to flatten the battery while trying out the rear entertainment to be horrified to find the remote had what i can only presume was the original batteries that had corroded and leaked .... spent a considerable amount of time cleaning the leaked fluid out of the battery compartment and never did get to try it out.

Next we tried the dog cage from my volvo v70 just hoping it would fit while I organise a made to measure dog cage as out lives revolve around our dogs.

I have a list of things that I want to get done on this car ie ... limo tints from the b pillar back and would be asking for any information on a recommend specialist in the Heathrow area but am prepared to travel a bit as it is really important to me to get them done professionally ... the made to measure dog cage already mentioned ... side steps due to horrendous back problems but I have to say I am torn as i think it would spoil the line of the car but to be honest I don't think i really have a choice.

I am sure there will be different opinions on this as I know Prop is horrified that I want complete new stainless loud and i stress the word loud exhaust and yet again any recommendations welcome Thumbs Up

obviously it will need to go in for a service as I brought it private i need the peace of mind that the proper oil is used and the car is checked out for any problems , don't mind admitting what this is going to cost is a bit of a concern but it has to be done and apparently Lookers in Park Royal have a good rep for this.

So far have had to shell out for a new Bosch S5 battery fitted by Halfords as it was the original battery according to the RAC guys who came on monday to get it started and for peace of mind got a new one even tho they said there was nothing wrong with the original and already been back once because it wasn't seated properly and two new boots on the back.

Any criticism and comments are all welcome and appreciated. Thumbs Up

All pics from the original add.

heres to happy motoring in my dream car although I don't do that much millage as don't and cant work due to disability.

Dave

Lovely car and welcome, I like the different two tone interior, have seen one that's the other way around and also looked nice.

With regards to the side steps, have you considered having the electric deployable steps fitted? They won't ruin the lines and I think they are a bit lower too once deployed than the fixed steps, so might be better for your back. Cost is about £1500 though.

Limo tints I agree with, and I do think LR skimped on the exhaust for the SC cars, same was true when I had the SC Sport. If you look at a Porker Cayenne Turbo they have awesome exhausts. Will be interested to hear what you get. Discovery 4 HSE

Very nice motor.

All I could recommend on top of what you said (full service, bits needed) is to get a nappa & piano black steering wheel (& A/B gearknob), it would look perfect (beware where you buy from though... I recommend Cam-Tech for this) They only taked minutes to fit with next to no tools (17mm socket and a thin, long, flat screwdriver or a thin long Allen key to pop out the airbag module.)

Also, do get rid of this enormous key chain and have the FF key on its own or you will kiss goodbye this marvelous piano finish on the center console trim.

Again, very nice colour combo and specs. Do find out if you can get the electric side steps, they are the solution for you really.

Anyway, 2 enthusiastic thumbs up for your new Dream Car Thumbs Up Thumbs Up l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Big thanks for the nice comments Thumbs Up

As for the steps am really not sure which way to go as I cant denny money plays a big part as not working , just the Boss ( the name I give the wife ) bringing in the wages Embarassed but the more i think about it the electric deployable ones don't spoil the line of the car but there is a big difference in price between the fixed and deployable Big Cry and considering i have to get the car serviced and already wondering how much they are going to find wrong with the car and what the total outlay is going to be just for that and really need the tints before the made to measure dog cage gets sorted.

Hey its all a challenge and one way or another I will get it sorted but I think unfortunately the loud exhaust is probably going to be last in the priority of things I want done.

Cheers
Dave

Big thanks again for the nice comments Thumbs Up

Like the sound of the nappa & piano black steering wheel but that would probably be further down the list than the stainless loud exhaust, that has to have that v8 grunt Twisted Evil can you explain what the A/B gearknob is please as would probably be going to Cam-Tech for some of the work at some point but he is a fair distance from me.

The pic of the key chain was the pic from the advertisement and have other pictures I have taken of the car since but i can honestly say when I saw the key chain I cringed and my key comes off the ( can't think what you call them but like a climbing type clip ) and just the key on its own goes in the ignition Thumbs Up

And as said previously am going to have to think seriously on the side steps issue as due to back problems I have to have steps as even in access mode I still struggle a bit to get in and out of the car .... but when in , oh wow is all I can say really as this has been my dream car for many years but have avoided due to running cost but hey people including the Boss say I have to live for today and this is what I am trying to do , just hope i don't run out of money Big Cry

Cheers

Dave

A/B stands for Autobiography

The A/B gear knob comes with smooth nappa leather and a piano black trim, replacing the grained leather & the silver trim with the Range Rover name on it you have.

Try to get a new steering wheel in, it just feels like having a brand new...car!

Side step:
Alternatively, you could (you should really) get an IID Tool (around £400, check this site for much more info).
This allows you to modify the height of your L322.
You could lower the vehicule of say 25 mm, lower you Rangie significantly when using the Access height - you may select it from the center console or the button on the door trim, righ by the electric window buttons.

Cheers. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

So does that mean with IID Tool you can lower it more than it would normally lower .... scary price tho ... then again most stuff for Range Rover is expensive .... don't know if I am that keen on the gear knob but have only seen on an ebay link and would love the idea of the ivory and black steering wheel but I don't think the funds are going to stretch that far but to be honest a lot depends on what they find wrong when it goes in for service .... but thanks for the info Thumbs Up

Cheers

Setting the vehicule heights is only the tip of the iceberg as far as upgrades and monitoring this little device can do.

Search a bit more about it and you'll soon figure £300/400 is a great deal for it! Thumbs Up l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Sorry but couldn't resist posting a few more pics .... as you can see I live in a mansion and parking is a wee bit tight and the one of the tyre was the decider that I needed tow new boots as the spare was naff and I think there are a couple of me at my second home Costa's .... do love there coffee and one of the advantages of being disabled is you get nice big parking spaces with less chance of door knocking Mr. Green

Cheers

Very nice!! Thumbs Up I've also just bought an '07 S/C and really adore the thing!

On the exhaust, I personally find the muted, but noticeable, growl really suits the S/C. It's definitely old-school V8 but in-keeping with the understated RR looks and image. This is just my view, but give it some thought before you make the change.

The steering wheel upgrade is very worthwhile. All I did on mine was replace the black spokes for brushed chrome. That only cost me £45 and an hour of my time. I've just added piano black window switch covers but need to see how they look after a few days before my mind is totally made up on them.

As my S/C was owned by a footballer, I already have tints on all side windows. I've already discovered they keep a lot of heat out of the cabin, which is good.

Another upgrade, if you feel so inclined is a supercharger pulley upgrade for better low-down grunt. My '02 4.4 V8 was far sharper away from rest whereas the S/C feels a little flat until prodded a bit. Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

A man ain't truly been insulted until he stands buck naked in front of a woman and she didn't even notice. Or care.
