Replacement reverse camera

My camera is kaput so needs replacing. I've done a search and read all the threads I can find on camera replacement but I couldn't find any info about what to replace it with. Obviously, I'm not going to drop the crazy money LR want for a new one so what's the way forward?
Taking it apart, it has a square connector with 4 pins. 2 are composite I guess and the other 2 are power and ground. Surely any old reversing camera from ebay will work and can be fitted inside the housing. Any recommendations? 2006 FFRR 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

I've not found anything specific on what to replace it with other than the newer module from a 2010 model.

I would like to know if anyone has replaced the guts of the original camera module with a different camera and what did they use. 2006 FFRR 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

I bought this and it seems to work fine with my 2007 touch screen.

Isn't it odd that as soon as you stick a finger in the flash goes off Shocked

I suppose you want pictures now of the screen, well if so you'll have to wait Very Happy Geoff

That looks very tidy!

Did you just get rid of the housing for the oem camera and was it just a case of splicing the wires together? If so I may give this a try! African Bush Junkie ... in London!

here's a thought, why not have 2/3 or 4 cameras and use a video splitter or cctv splitter to see all these on the screen.. ... - .- -.

Could easily be achieved. You could have one on the front and one each side looking down then have 4 images on the one screen using something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Channel-CCTV-C...4d096226cf 2006 FFRR 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

that's similar to the cctv unit i have and indeed it would be cool to have 4 images from 4 different cameras on the screen when you reverse..
my cctv unit also does 2 images side by side which would fill the screen a bit better.. ... - .- -.

I think this will have to be investigated. I shall buy one of those units and some more cameras once I'm back from Poland. 2006 FFRR 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

The original camera was missing from this spoiler ( I bought it secondhand) my original camera was slightly damaged Whistle But they do come off easy enough, just drill out the rivets, the new one is just stuck on with double sided tape and as Gary says the whole thing is cheap as chips and better than the original camera Thumbs Up
Stan has me thinking multiple cameras now maybe with a selector switch Question Geoff

I'd love to get details, once you have the multi camera setup. Maybe we could get the whole 'Adventure Cam" setup on pre2010 cars! Very Happy
