Oh, and in addition to the above I am now hearing a ...." Tat tat tat..." Or ..." tick tick tick..." As the engine ticks over. If I rev the engine it gets faster the higher the revs go. I definitely did not hear this when I bought the RR. But I'm obviously now listening more intently. I've read various posts now on timing belt tensioners, to oil changes, to "they all make that noise" . It had a service in January at 73K and it now has 76.5 k on the clock.

The ticking happens on mine as well, I'm not sure if it's the injectors or the ignition packs firing but I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I can't help you with the other questions, but I too was surprised with the speed of the warm up. My mechanic said that was due to being an all Aluminium engine. In Canada, it's a very nice 'problem' to have. |

The ticking sound. Does this come from the cam cover area and does it sound like the fan is hitting something?

The ticking could be a number of things. If it's a light ticking its probably normal. Could be timing chain guides or the vanos system. quite often an oil change for a slightly heavier weight oil can cure it.

What experience does your local garage have with rangys? Did they check any of the things mentioned here? how are you with using some simple spanners? |

I think I'd make the drive down and combine with short break in London just t make a point and as a matter of principle.
