Still not working!

Update..Sorry for the gap but the frustration levels have been to high to post again

As posted before, 10 weeks ago parked up overnight. Started the following morning, ran for 15 or so seconds stopped and that was that. Went to a LR specialist who after 8 weeks advises me I need a new engine as there is no compression. Didn't get ant readings for anything from them so took it away last weekend. Since then we have checked fuel at the rail and got 3.5 bar, then it dropped to zero and then up to 2 bar, so changed the filter at weekend and today the pump. With oil in the cylinders got 10 bar compression at cold so after changing the pump today sparked her up and she flew into life. Some smoke out the back from the oil I guess, but she just would not rev apart from intermittently then she just cut out. Checked the pressure at the rail and got zero at ignition and only 2 bar on cranking. I guess that there is still an issue somewhere with fuel delivery so am I looking at a new ECU or am I missing something blindingly obvious? I have an auto spark looking at it this week I hope as I'm way above my knowledge level now. Surely it can't be the pump knackered already?

I need all the help I can get now.

Sounds like your pump may not be getting sufficient power. That could be the ECU but also just wiring/fuses. Is there any way where you can measure the voltage going to the pump and see if that is stable.

Another not (too) expensive option is updating the software of the ECU. I updated my ECU recently and my CEL issue disappeared Smile.

Also one of my other favourites is injector cleaner, "clean" fuel etc. Also cleaning the inlet manifold although those will have little to do with your issue I think. Just try cleaning the MAF as well and check for air leaks from filter to engine. Vacuum hoses tend to dry out and rupture, again that shouldn't screw up the fuel pressure. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

And measure voltage on the pump plug at the same time to see if it fluctuates. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Thanks again all and especially Bill for your kind offer but I have a V8. I'll try the voltage stuff etc and see where we go. I'll update later this evening. Thanks again..

Right, back in from the cave...

Powered the pump from the battery and got just over 3 bar but the battery has a bit of wear from cranking all afternoon. Cylinders are washed again so am I over or under fueling? Could the cold start sensor be having an effect or is it the big one, the ECU. If it's the ECU, can I get an ebay one or does it need to a spanker from LR?

This is week 14 without my car and I am getting to the end of my patience as well as knowledge...

That's where we are, comments are very welcome and gratefully received.

There must be something a diagnostic can pick up here? No fault codes reported, but did they check any live data readings? Also, which diagnostic system were they using?

Using the dealership's 'Parts shotgun' approach is just going to cost you loads. Spend a little on some diagnostics and then that help the aim a little.

I am considering buying the LYNX system that is being promoted in the LR magazines, has anyone tried this out at all? It's 250 pounds and is made by the outfit that write the T4 software and Britparts..

I agree that just shoving parts in is not the way to go, but if diagnosis leads to believe there are issues with parts such as fuel pump and filter then surely you shouldn't ignore them.

The Indy didn't give me any read outs or any reports at all which is one of the reasons I moved the car away, they just kept saying "new engine"! which myself and some competent friends are convinced it doesn't need.
