Brembo brake upgrade

Has anyone upgraded their brake calipers to Brembo?

I'm changing my pads soon and wondered whether this would first be a good upgrade and second if its relatively straightforward to carry out.

Yep, fitted a brand new TDV8 brembo setup recently. Job went very well, due to the callipers never being fitted before I had to run a tap through the threads and I also bought the wrong discs first time round. All in all it was a cheap and very worthwhile mod, breaks are much sharper and have a great feel. Don't expect racing performance though, they can't change the laws of physics.

I fitted everything new and I think I spend £400-£500 max.

Bits needed :-

Brembo TDV8/SC callipers & pads
Matching dust shields (optional)
TDV8/SC flexi hoses
360x30 discs (I bought dimpled & grooved)
Good quality brake fluid (I bought ATE racing blue)

Steve, thanks for the info. Would these be the same for my standard 52 vogue v8 petrol?

someone will confirm but yes they will fit the same. Only difference between TDV8 and SC brembo callipers is the colour (grey or black) currently your car has single piston callipers with 345x30 discs.

Yes Brembo's will fit on all FF's but the later (bigger 6 pot) Brembo's with Range Rover written on them for the 09> MY wont fit the earlier models as the bolt/mounting holes are too small on the 02-08 hubs...

When fitting Brembo upgraded calipers you can either cut down the dust shield to save replacing them to save a few £££'s or replace them to do the job correctly Thumbs Up

Remember there are two bleed nipples on Brembo's not the usual one found on standard calipers Thumbs Up

And finally, Sport Brembo calipers will not fit the FFRR so don't make the same mistake i and many others have done in the past... (at least they fitted my D3 last week after sitting on the shelf for over 12 months Rolling Eyes )

Craig Thumbs Up

I'm pretty interested in this upgrade.

Do you not have to upgrade the rears also ?

How does the ABS and DSC and EBD and all the other 3 letter acronyms manage if you do this, as there will be more braking bias to the front, will there not, if the rears aren't done ?

Perhaps I'm over thinking it..........

Seems a mad price for used Brembo calipers on the bay. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I would upgrade to Brembo all round as there's a noticeable improvement apparently.

A mate has Brembos on his Sport and he says it stops much better than before.

Thanks. Found part # on microcat by removing my VIN and just scanning SC profile. Now ordered alongide sensors. Will refurb Brembo's and then fit these when I swap out the 18" alloys later in the year. Good to have it all there and ready.

BTW anybody found who is best for Brembo caliper refush and coat / paint ?

Brembo don't do standard rear calipers... IE if you have an SC or TDV8 with Brembo's, they are only the fronts Thumbs Up

Thanks Craig.

Will keep my eye out for some front Brembo calipers then, if the electronics don't get all screwed up on a 2003.......

How much do you think it would cost to convert the fronts with all new parts, ie disks, pads, calipers, hoses, fluid etc ?
