Lawn help

Last year we bought a new house with an awful garden. It resulted in a 20t digger excavating it all for us. I laid turf at the back end of the year but was in a rush so never managed to get the soil as level as I would like. The law. Has taken well but I'm left with a few high and low spots. Sad

What's the best way to fix this problem? Top soil and some grass seed? A Censored off big roller? Is now even the time to be messing round with the lawn? [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

I would dig out sections in a sod like fashion and remove or add soil as necessary to get it even then replace original sod over top. Might be better to buy some sods of grass for larget sections Thumbs Up Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Sounds good. How long and if would it take the original grass to grow through the soil if I just applied topsoil and fertiliser? [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

No idea Rob I know that's what a friend did although his imperfections were small and when sods inserted it was almost invisible . Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Depending on how sever e bumps are I would advise using turf but build up the soil below to make as level as possible.

If you still don't have a flat lawn then you'll need to cut away the turf sections, peel the areas back and gradually build up underneath although if it gets warm and dry now this is going to be difficult to achieve.

If it starts to rain then you'll be fine. A loamy mix or top soil mixed with sharp sand will provide the right combo of drainage and moisture retention. 2009 Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze

If your not on a water meter leave a sprinkler on it from the moment you get home on Friday.
Go to HSS Saturday morning and rent the roller. its only a few quid so worth a try.
Get the grass aerator type soles to stick on your boots while you do it to help protect the grass.

Fill the roller upto the hilt with water.

Roll it ONLY on the raised parts back and forth, dont twist more than a few degrees at a type or it will damage the grass more and leave you with swirl spots.

Turn sprinkler back on if you still have high spots and repeat again on sunday.

If this fails a light dusting of topsoil and sand mixed in with some grass seed into the low areas should help pick it up to a decent level.

Its a Censored to fix this once its done and pulling it all up in the best way but when you pull it up you need to pull it up with an even depth to the pull and use the back of a 1-1.5m wide rake to get the soil level again Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
