Scotland 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black
Trolley Jack

Hi All

I would like to get a trolley jack that is capable of easily lifting my range rover. Can any one recommend a Jack or what capacity and saddle height should be my minimum?

I currently have a 2.25 tonne Halfords heavy duty jack and it always seem to struggle to lift the front end. At full height on the jack I only have a couple of cm between the wheel and the ground which can make getting the wheel on and off tricky. I know I could get a high lift bottle jack, but I would like something I can use on all my cars. 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

I bought an Arcan XL30R 3Ton from Costco nearly 2 years ago and its been excellent, i almost bust my back just trying to lift the box into the trolley its so heavy and its really well made for the price. It gives you much needed confidence when lifting an L322 off the floor........i never felt happy using a standard diy jack but this lifts with ease, smooth action and very very stable and of course ample lifting height..............but as trolley jacks go it aint portable.....

There is another thread here on jacks and Mercedes Sprinter bottle jacks seem a good proposition.

The OP wanted a multipurpose jack to cover all his vehicles, a bottle jack may not be suitable for the family hatchback.

Bootle jack will only go under my Elan sideways.

I like the idea of a nice light weight aluminium trolley jack 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Hi Andy. I know it's expensive, (£185.00), but I bought a Snap On 'Beast' 3 tonne trolley jack. It is amazing, copes easily with my 06SC, and the quality is superb. Given what it's lifting, i thought it would be false economy to buy anything less. It is surprisingly compct when down, (90mm) and has an extended height of 520mm, and a very wide front base with 120mm front wheels, making it a very stable and useful bit of kit.
Not everyones cup of tea, but it's certainly proved its worth for me.
And the best bit is your local Snap On man will deliver it !!!

That sounds like the type of jack I am after as there is a slight slope on my drive so something sturdy and stable is what I need. £185 is expensive, but cheaper that having my rangie sat on me 56 TDV8 Vogue SE
