Satnav red cross

Hi, thought id move this part of my first post to the ICE forum to see if it gets more attention. I've just bought my FFRR and my Satnav has a red cross through the “GPS” square in the top corner, and its displaying my position in a field in north Yorkshire. I have a 2011\2012 disk on the way to see if this improves things.

I've made it into the satnav diagnosis screen and the "Self Check" screen reports no errors.

I've checked the GPS Information screen (example from manual, not my car):

I have plenty of satellites and their elevation and azimuth info updates as i move, however i'm not getting any reception status from them. i.e. where the example picture above shows P for data being received and T for data being received but not used, i have no letters against any of the satellites.

My Maes status also shows - which indicates, according to the manual, that i'm receiving data from 2 or less sats.

When i picked up the car the computers data was set to 2005 so i dont know if its had the battery off at some point and this has confused the satnav somewhat?

I dont want to start swapping GPS aerials or Satnav drives if there is really a simple solution to this.

I had a very similar fault on a totally different car (Audi A4). The cause turned out to be a damaged aerial lead - so it was surprising that the SatNav could see the satellites at all. I guess the timing signal wasn't good enough. Graham

Cheers gents. I'll have a go at the battery this afternoon.

When you adjust the position in the navigation config is there anyway to search for a location to move it to? Mine seems to now be in belgium (following my tinkering) that's going to take a lot of scrolling to get to the north east...

If I'm still no further forward I'll explore replacing the gps arial.

Finally got around to disconnecting the battery this morning (explosive charged scared me off at the weekend)

No change i'm afraid. You mentioned setting the default country to the UK then resetting the position to current location. How do i change the default country from Belgium?

ah ha cheers mate. I've been looking in navigation preferences. Assumed it would be something more system wide.

as for the sat nav red line job, i've done a search here and the conclusion is that there is no conclusion..various answers came up like damage antenna leads to bad connections to faulty units...
the range rover sometimes decides to start working properly all by its own ..

btw the denso manual is in the wiki.. ... - .- -.

Reset position to home. Still got a red cross through the GPS. Diagnostic screen still showing satalittes but not getting and position data from them... grrrr

Thanks for your help stan.

See what happens when my update disk arrives though I don't hold out much hope for this making a difference. After that I think we've reached the point of replacing the aerial Big Cry

Sure I saw somewhere that these were a.generic connection.

I had the same problem, and had to change the aerial.. But don't worry, cheap (around £50 + VAT) and straightforward job Wink
