Remove centre console??

Hi have an 05 Rangerover touch screen so the later car.
The car wouldn't start so I checked the forum and have decided it is the electrical part of the ignition switch because car unlocks ok steering wheel releases and all ignition lights come on. When you the turn to start you can hear so electrical buzzes in the console but no crank
I have started stripping the centre console but have hit a bit of a wall does anyone have any instructions on how to replace this switch please
Thanks broncoupe

The RAVE will have all the info you need. You have a touch screen so later nav but you still have the early interior.
Links in the wiki or on google.
RRC 2Dr, RRC 4Dr,
P38, and 2 L322s
(wife thinks I'm nuts - prob right, too)

Sorted

Thanks guys for your help pictures got me on the right track please note there are 2 hidden screws at the front edge where the centre console joins the heater panel.most other screws are reasonable obvious except the 2 under the storage box in the armrest, also removing the power socket in the box is a bit awkward .
Please note the ignition switch felt fine when I turned it just like normal no slop just the right pressure but to be fair to other forum members they were absolutely right changed the electrical part of the switch only, and the cars back to full health.
Thanks again broncoupe

I have started having some problems with what I think is the ignition switch.

The starter motor has been checked and seems ok. They have moved back to the ignition switch but as it is an intermittent fault it cannot be repeated.

I have been quoted 440+vat+testbook+something+something (totalling 700+ & al long wait) for a "whole lock kit".

Reading this thread it seems that the barrel only can be replaced and every lock and key.

Would anyone have a parts numbers that I can quote to the mechanic and ask why the full replacement?.

Many thanks in advance.

Have a go it is very straight forward.
My car didn't start you had full ignition turn the key to start and nothing except an electrical noise round handbrake area.
You only need to buy the electrical part of the switch from memory I paid about £80.00
I spoke to Westover Landrover and they said you could contact them with your car details pay them by credit card I could then post it for you if you cover the postage

Thanks I am actually in the new forest on holiday at the moment.
Had the problem yesterday and went straight to garage in sussex, who rigged a bypass push switch!.
Just really needed to know the part number as i have been told that it's only available as a complete lock/key/kit!.

I had the same problem... This part cured mine

It fixes to the bottom of the original barrel, so no re-programming or new keys needed Thumbs Up

If I remember correctly it was around £90 including VAT from my local L/R dealer, and fitting was a straight forward job :D

Johnte, many thanks. Do you remember what the part is called or its number. I asked the garage briefly yesterday pm and say it is not available/does not exist - they are still pointing me towards the full lock/key kit!.
If i can find out its name i can get it ordered then will fit it as it seems quite easy.
THank you for al the replies and and sorry for the delay - the signal strength is note so great here!
