Agreed gents. I will be buying sidesteps whatever happens but I need to decide which ones.

At the moment it has the polished stainless side bars which look great but don't really serve much purpose.

As soon as I know whether to buy aftermarket or LR steps I will be disposing of the stainless ones.

A hrh will be armoured unless for sole use upon an estate for internal transport. There are a fair few levels of armour so it could be a lower level Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Previous work Whistle Smile

Properly armoured ones are cack on the estates for the shoots as they just sink in the lovely fields more so than a normal l322 and the cheaper ones are used by the assistants to move stuff about if there aren't any defenders available, which isn't too often. Though to be fair they tend to keep the estate ones in fairly good nick and for a long while or until its time to bin it.

I saw an old 2000 110 that had a small shunt after an excursion from the beaten track in one work area and was told they wouldn't bother repairing it as it had pushed the chassis in a little as well but with the austerity that was happening they now stripped all the parts they could from them for others as it was worth more in the long run than taking a big repair bill or loss selling it on Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Perfectly possible that one has some sort of protection, although the windows look standard, but certainly not all cars used in public are armoured, even on official use (e.g. the Phantom VI in which Charles & Camilla were attacked by the students had only toughened glass - which broke).

i think nowadays the security forces spend more time on 'intel' rather than spending loads of money on beefing up a royal vehicle.. ... - .- -.

I wouldn't say they were that worried about the royals anymore tbh, just being safe. There are much higher value targets knocking about....

And intel... Hmm you haven't seen the GCHQ news item lately then Wink FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
