Mercedes ML owners

Anyone on here have a Mercedes ML as one of their other cars …… Reason for asking the daughters ML 61 plate has developed a fault with the accelerator that Mercedes know that there is a problem but don't know how to fix it Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

When the car starts up it seems to hold back in first gear then without warning it shoots forward with a slingshot effect hence why the daughter has to drive and be ready to cover the brake.

The car has been in at the local Merc dealership all week and although they know the fault is there and they have even telephoned Mercedes Direct to enquire about it no-one seems to know how to fix it , they have done all the usual software upgrades and such , yet the car is still the same ….

So over this bank holiday weekend they asked if their technician manager could use the vehicle and take it home with him to see if he can pinpoint what the trouble is …. Rolling Eyes

Yeah thats just talk for 'we want to have a weekend thrashing it about for a laugh and come back next week to say nought is up' Mick Sad

Im afraid without much ML experience the only condolence i can offer is that a fair few Disco 4 SDV6 8 Speeds are suffering the same issue. I highlighted it and got flamed for daring to insinuate that the SDv6 was slower to take off the line than my td6, which it was, but then others slowly came forward...

From other faults on other cars they could try swapping out the accelerator pedal, or if it was mine i would see about going for a proper remap locally as i would bet the hesitation could be removed as its a delay on the accelerator pedal in a lot of modern cars to make the acceleration smoother and less instant in all but their top sport models. Im guessing its a CDi unit as well like the 300 or 350?? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I'm guessing the ML is "fly by wire"? ie the pedal's not connected by a throttle cable, but a potentiometer that changes the voltage based on the pedal position. It's maybe a sensor? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

In these days of dealers trying to save money, they probably won't want to swap anything until they get a positive diagnosis.
When I did my training, I was always taugh that when you couldn't find a fault, start by changing the most obvious thing and wait and see, then work towards the least likely.
Not doing anything won't fix it! Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

As i said they had to actually phone Mercedes and wait 24 hours for a reply to their question regarding this fault which they said seems to be specific to the ML models Rolling Eyes

Saga continues Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes called out Mercedes Assist last night , mechanic came out spent about 45 mins then told me he was getting the car recovered ...... Rolling Eyes As he thinks there is a problem with the automatic transmission .... And that the Mercedes dealership that fitted the new accelerator pedal last week had nothing to do with this recurring fault Shocked

So this morning recovery vehicle turns up takes it away ..... Anyone's guess when she will get it back tho , but at least they have given her a new Merc E 320 saloon to use ....

Gonna blag her keys and take it for a spin .... Laughing
