Hi, my other cars a mk5 (slightly tweaked edition 30) and I'm a member of a good forum. This one http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,61119.0.html isn't too far off your budget and seems to have a lot of history. If I'm honest for 4k your going struggle to find something straight that's not been abused, or that won't cause you a headache and more money.

In fact, if I knew that was a good car it would do me fine. Graham

I have a 54 plate GT TDI 140 but its a DSG gearbox. Condition & history are mint but appreciate it may not be what you're after? Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

DSG is the future (not that I'm biased owning a dsg golf and building a dsg race car) |

Compared to the cost of a FFRR gearbox or torque converter they are a bargain haha. I'm cursing myself I know but I've done 4 years worth of UK track days, nurburgring trips and F1 circuits without any issue. |

I love the DSG but this is for a new driver, has to be a manual. Graham

Hi KP, thanks but I'm wanting a car with provenance. If I go the trade route I'll pick somewhere very local to me. Graham
