I got carried away with this thread and ordered a set off eBay too, even though my "thud" was more of a "gentle bump".

Even so, there is a noticeable difference in both performance (i.e. they clear more of my windscreen more effectively) and sound....which is non existent. They're perfectly quiet.

Lovely job! Thumbs Up Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

geoff, that thud you now get might be due to the wipers cleaning the screen to well .... ... - .- -.

Stan,
There is absolutely no doubt that they clear the screen better although they can't shift the scratches from 5 years of neglect in the wiper blade department.

and it is a more gentle thud Banging Head Geoff

yep my screen is the same , might have to accidentally get a large stone chip but then that will cost me about £70 excess charge..

i've found my 808's make a thud when there's hardly any rain on the screen but once the big downpours come its fine.. ... - .- -.

Reserecting a year old thread for a little advice.

My front wipers are thudding again even with Bosch 808's so I thought I would search the forum for help. I didn't think it was that long ago that I replaced them and this thread confirms it as I found my own post from march 2012 Embarassed

So my question is should the Bosch blades last longer than a year??? They clean the screen ok JUST THUD on the change of direction Twisted Evil

I also had the thud when the wipers changed direction. the wiper blades looked okay so tried adjusting the angle of the wiper to the screen many times but had no effect. i noticed there was a lot of sideways play on the little joints that allow the blade to curve round the screen so i gave them a little squeeze in a vice to tighten them up a bit and works perfect, no more thud Very Happy '04 td6 se

I always change my wipers each year before MOT.

I only had the thud problem when I got the car (cruddy old wipers), it has never come back.

I buy Bosch wipers off ebay as they are so reasonably priced.

i think this might be part of the problem ..
the fullfats wipers are rather big and heavy so it makes sense that the joints 'might' get a big loose causing the thud.. ... - .- -.

Wats39 - could you help me identify which joints you squeezed in the vice. There are several with small rivets to allow rotation Are these the ones? Or do you mean the clips that hold the rubber blade in place? I'm scared to put the riveted joints in the vice in case I break them. Which ones exactly do you mean?
Thanks! 2012 5.0L S/C

Nomad, it was the 6 joints that pivot back and forth. 2 bigger ones and 4 smaller ones. remember not to squeeze them too tight or the wiper blade wont curve round the screen. they squeeze in pretty easy so even vice grips or plummers pliers should do it ok. '04 td6 se

I would if i could but cant seem to upload any Rolling Eyes can email a pic to you if you pm me your email address and maybe you can upload it if you want? it is just the 6 joints though and not the bits that hold the actual rubber blade on to the wiper so you cant really go wrong Thumbs Up '04 td6 se
