Firstly, an hello as I am new to this forum and a new to the pleasures of owning a FFRR. I've read lots of post regarding warranties and Warranty Direct. But I was wondering if any one has any experience with Warranty Direct with"Wear and Tear" cover? After a very long and slightly pushy conversation with a sales person, was assured that parts that failed due to wear and tear would be covered without question. On the face of it. The policy seems quite reasonable.

Any help would be appreciated as I need to get some form of cover pretty soon.

On the face of it, it sounds too good to be true.

I specifically bought my 2007 TDV8 in November last year from a LR Dealer in order not to deal with a third-party warranty provider. If you don't get stuck then you are not trying hard enough.

Ask the salesman for a copy of the T&Cs and see what kind of wording is in there.

On here there are some stories about Warranty Direct, so I suggest, do a search

As a rule of thumb "if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is" MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Warranty - it's just a bet - with the odds stacked in favour of the warranty company.

Unless you've not done your due diligence when buying the car you'd be better off just putting the warranty money aside (in an ISA) and just paying for repairs if they are needed.

Took a policy with Warranty Direct on my first L322, 6 years ago and each claim I made during the policy period was declined with some excuse or another. I told them I would never recommend them, and that still stands.

I know it does.

I have read lots of stuff on here on Warranty Direct and other 3rd party companies. A lot of the contention seems to be around "wear and tear". And the companies using it as an excuse not to pay up.

What i am try to find out is, has anybody running a current policy with WD that has the wear and tear cover made a successful claim?

The other question is, are the Landrover extended warranties run through a 3rd party, or are they Landrover?

Yeah, I'm waiting for that to be sent over!!!! I've read the stories, most of them bad. It's funny how the salesman was saying how WD are recommended on all the Landrover forums!!!  2007 RR SE TDV8 in Stornoway Grey

I had a WD policy on my car for two years. Bloody Range Rovers - it never missed a beat

I didn't have to claim, but the specialist where I had my car serviced recommended WD as they had several customers who had claimed with no hassle at all . . . . . that's why I went with them.

Perhaps the way to go about this is to contact several dealers or specialists to ask of their experience ?

 Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

I have put this elsewhere, but I have a warranty with them and an 07 TDV8. It had a failed diff and they paid out straight away with no issues or questions. I have found them to be easy and straight forward to deal with.

They paid for my S/C gearbox to be rebuilt, no bs about wear and tear. I did have to contribute 50% towards parts cost, due to mileage, but it was under £400, I was very happy with WD.

They even paid out an extra £350 for a hire car whilst mine was being repaired.

I suspect their cover may be better than LR Assured, couldn't swear to it though. Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!
