Heater connector had got caught in glue which stopped screen from being able to be pushed down properly when originally installed in factory, customer noticed wind noise from top passenger side, which then brought us in to diagnose the problem. |

Did you reuse the original windshield then or had to fit a new one?

I have a special tool that enables me to wire out the old screen without damaging trims or heater connectors, Old screen (all of 2 weeks) was still good so decision was made to re install original windscreen. Fitted back in perfectly and the area that was raised originally by the incorrect placement of the heater connector was nice and flush with the body of the vehicle. Road tested no more wind noise, job done. |

Muddy wheels luckily the bond had sealed itself aound the connector so there was no water ingress. Also in fairness to LR you could only see that the windscreen was lifted slightly if you looked very very closely and you would have had to be looking for that specific thing (it was more noticable by wind noise than visual inspection) I am pretty sure this will now probably go on a tech bulletin off to the factory as both the head mechanic and myself took plenty of photos of it. You could blame it on quality control but as it is a completly brand new model they are going to have the inevitable teething problems as long as these are rectified all should be well. On the plus side it is a lovely car to be in, around and work on. Some styling features are not for me (the rear lights, imo look a bit too cadillac) and on this particular model the white leather would not suit me at all, i think would only stay clean for about 1/2 an hour i must have gone through about 20 pairs of disposable gloves on this one job. |
