Hi all,

My TDV8 has developed a kind of ticking / rattly noise that I think is coming from the engine.

Can't hear it all in the cabin, but at the M6 toll road today I wound my window down to pay and noticed the sound instantly.

Its relatively quiet when the engine is idle in N, but increases when shift to D, and gets quicker / bit noisier as you up the revs too.

Does this sound like the start of a big issue? Any pointers from you guys would be cool.

Mine does this a bit too but it needs a service. I'm pretty sure it's the car reminding me to get a service soon. when was your last service done ? Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

I agree about trying to narrow the noise down - will do first thing tomorrow and report back.

However, it has only recently had a service in December.  RR Vogue TDV8 08

Forgive me, being new-ish to diesel ownership from petrol, I thought the ticking/rattly noise was the diesel engine.......

On petrol V8's a noisy top end was usually caused by incorrect oil/low oil .... it might be warning you? Land Rover Addict
