United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Stornoway Grey
No positive connection point for emergency starting

Hi Everyone,

I am having fun and games with my RR this weekend! Rolling Eyes

I am having battery troubles and was looking to jump start the car. I looked in the handbook (pages 255-257) and it mentions booster cable connection points and even mentions never putting the booster cables directly onto the battery.

So of I go to find my booster connection points and all I see is the bolt for the negative connection and nothing for the positive connection. The positive lead goes from the battery and into the depths of the engine with no joints or connections anywhere!

I have a 2007 Vogue SE. Please may I ask anyone with a similar year RR has a look at theirs and confirm that I am not going mad.

Also does anyone have any suggestions as to where I connect my jump leads? I do have a pyrotechnic charge on the positive cable.

Thanks for your help as always.

I seem to remember reading a post on here about this and that some model years did not have the positive terminal. I am sure someone will be along shortly to clarify!

If you havent got a positive jump lead nipple, then connect your jump lead to the positive battery terminal first ,making sure its got a good connection, then attach to negative jump lead nipple.

The pyro is there for safety purposes in case of a heavy smash, and it wont bite you if your not touching it.

And on the bright side,if it did bite you would save a shed load of money on gloves. ; )

Cheers Piers.

Thanks everyone.

I have looked on Topix and it looks like Land Rover in their wisdom did not update the owners manual for my year (2007).

In the 2008 & 2009 manuals the instructions and pictures have been updated. It does state that you should connect the positive connection to the battery.

Cheers Bow down
