yes if just dip are on o there own, they both go out it i put the lever to main beam, the other ones come on as well and again after 17 sec they all go off at the same time for 2/3 sec then all come on again.

i did take the connection of the back of the little ones, one at a time the put the lights on, and the same happened to the light that was still connected, still went out after 17 secs. however as each light was dis connected, i had the chime and the dash board reading telling me to check the lamp etc so that bit works ok

hi joe, i would if i were in uk, but i will get a total rip off here in france im afraid. they will just change everything in sight and charge you the earth unfortunately.

i think unless i can get to the bottom of it, i will probably return to the uk and get it sorted. i really have no other choice i think. even though its gonna cost a few bob to get back to portsmouth

There's only 3 items on the lighting circuits common to all the headlights.
The lighting on-off switch, the steering column switch and the Lighting control module.
Even the various earths are separate.
Given that neither of the switches is likely to be capable of causing a 17s repeat failure cycle it leaves the LCM.
Thats what I would go for, can't think of anything else.

Have you found the LCM yet? I would start with checking every connection to it, take them off then on again. Previously..

You could have a look at fuses 9,4 and 53 which are 5A, 5A and 30A respectively or even change them for piece of mind but I don't think you will find anything.
You have my sympathy at £300 for a replacement lcm without being absolutely certain.
Is there no way you could find someone with a unit and do a swop?
Otherwise I'm sure they must be available second-hand.

hi contraband, yes i have been given the whereabouts of the LCM, if is behind the A pillar by the drivers door. i havent looked at it yet as it was snowing like a bas Censored ard on sunday.

i will check the fuses as suggested, and no i dont know anyone who has a RR to try their one Sad .

really it is either find a garage that can do a diagnostic on it without charging SEVERAL hundred euro, to tell me if it is the LCM or something else, or just change it and hope Question

i will firstly i think take all the connections off and clean them as you mention, then take it from there.

kind regards

bob

you might consider buying a IIDTool which should give you an error code to work with...the only problem will be the time it takes for it to be delivered to you... ... - .- -.

firstly alanm3, thanks for that, makes things a bit cheaper Thumbs Up , thinking about this a bit more, would i need to have a garage program this before it would work or could i just unplug the old one and fit the new one Question Question

the reason i ask is that my local dealer will not do this for me if i dont buy the unit from them Censored Censored Censored Censored

stan, i was considering buying one of these for future use, how much are they Question ; i have another vehicle to use so would not be a problem if i needed to wait for delivery. besides i am off to krabi in thailand for a month in 2 weeks so i could get by until my return i suppose

Thumbs Up

I'm not sure about this but I think a replacement LCM, new or used, has to be programmed to the car using Testbook.
Something to do with the cars mileage being stored in the LCM as a back-up.

hi everybody. sorry i did not continue with this post but i have had a some rather huge problems to deal with personally over the last few months and thankfully it is all now sorted out so i have not been on the net for several months.

my headlight problem solved itself without really knowing what caused the problem. i just got in the car one day and switched the lights on and everything worked as it should. this was actually a few months ago but has been without fault ever since. sorry i did not inform at the time but it was simply impossible.

so i can only think it was possibly a water/damp issue of some sort that caused it as it was that time of year and there was a lot of damp in the spare wheel area?

anyway thank you all for your help.

bob
