RR now as it should've been

Had it nearly 3 years and now have the satnav and stereo I said I'd get when I bought it.

I've got the MKIV system with a 2013 disk in it. It's much better than having a tomtom stuck to the windscreen, but reminds me how ancient that system is from when I had a BMW with one.

Baris also upgraded the BM54 unit - I can now bluetooth Led Zeppelin which is so much better - so big thanks to
Baris. Wish he'd been around 3 years ago!

Incidentally, I met Baris recently on a trip to the UK. He's a nice guy and very helpful. Also has a fab M5.

Only thing now is a holder for my phone. I have a Galaxy S3 - anyone recommend a holder + where to put it?

i agree re the sat nav , the tomtom/garmin might be cheaper and have better graphics but ho really likes the thought of having one stuck on the windscreen, anyways you dont use the nav all the time and when you do its fine with the combination of a map ,looking at the road signs and common sense. ...

as for the s3 holder, i would look on ebay... ... - .- -.

Best vehicle device mounts are here:

http://www.proclipusa.com/

You choose part of the mount for your specific vehicle and the second part for your device. If you change your vehicle before your device or visa versa, you just pick a new part of the mount and keep the other one. I've been using these mounts on vehicles like my Land Cruiser 100, Dodge 2500 MegaCab, Ford Explorer and now my 2006 HSE. My devices have included a Palm Treo, Palm Pre, and now iPhone 4. I like the option of having the power cord built into the mount so that when I enter the vehicle, I just pop the phone into the mount and it automatically charges it up. No wires to attach to the phone each time. The only limitation to this mount is that it precludes me from using a case, although ProClip makes some of these types of mounts that fit with a case installed.

Same mounts - just different distributors. I think Brodit is from Spain. 2006 HSE

Hmm, thanks for the input. Trouble is, having already had to replace one broken screen I have put mine in a case. Also, as a sissy girly man when it comes to the cold, I'm reluctant to put it in front of an air vent, which I normally have on full.

I see your point however, the vehicle mount is situated to the left of the vent and does not obstruct it. 2006 HSE

Ok, that's good news. Just in the pics it looked like it was actually mounted on the vent.

Here is the link to the mount that sits to the left of the radio.

I've just got the high level Brodit mount with the "move clip" added, which lets you put different things on the same mount.
Initial results are very favourable.

I think Brodit are Scandanavian (Sweden, IIRC) Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
