OK, I have the COM to USB cable and have downloaded the software for it, but when I connect the cable to the Intravee and then try and upload the new firmware from my laptop, I keep getting a error message saying "Cannot open serial port Com1". I also get a separate box saying "no serial port comms in use".

I have checked the Device Manager list in the Control Panel and the COM1 port is saying it's working properly.

I've also checked there is power to the Intravee, as the two cables that were connected to the CD changer are now plugged into the back of the Intravee.

Hope that all makes sense!

Anyone shed any light on what the problem might be? Cheers

That's a way off from where I am, the problem ur having is computer related now due to USB to com port adaption

U can change com port in intravee software but now it's getting more involved to explain

If device manager is showing as com1 try on com2 and change the intravee settings

Johnny will tell I as he saw the nightmares it's not a straight forward update especially when u start using USB-com adapters

Yep, I guess in simple terms, the laptop is not "talking" to the Intravee.

I assume to change the COM port in Intravee settings I need to successfully connect to it via the USB/COM cable first (which is what I am having trouble with!)?

I know how to change the Device Manager to select COM2 for the USB cable so I'll give that a go tomorrow. Cheers

You need to agree that you are responsible for any mods in the menu, its a disclaimer, dont forget to tell it what car its in, if its had a BDCM you may have to tell it that its an X5, Cliffy will talk you thru it but you must tick the disclaimer in the menu One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Are these all accessible in the Intravee "Settings" just by scrolling through sub-menus on the Sat/Nav screen?

Must admit, I don't recall seeing them, albeit I've only had a quick shifty to look for the folding mirror option, which I couldn't find. Looks like I need to do some more digging in the main menu settings.

The Intravee came straight out of an FFRR so I am hoping (!) that it realises it's still in one and I therefore don't have to "re-program it"  Cheers

I can go look in mine and do a step by step, if its had a body control module at some time apparently you need to tell it that its a BMW X5, blink count is number of times the indicators flash on a soft touch ie between 3 and 11 times and switch off automatically, if you want I can give you my mobile and ill sit in my car and talk you thru it. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!
