Hello all.

We are looking for a new to us family car, a Range Rover is on my mind.
Great comfort and very cool looks.

The RR I am looking at is a 2007 TD V8 Vogue.
One owner, 100 000km and all service done and dealer here in Norway.
But, how is the quality on these cars?
What are the problems? Any at all?
Something I need to look out for?

They are one of the most unreliable cars on the road, mine has left me & all the family stranded by the roadside 5 times this past 12 months. I only do about the average 12,000 per year and it's cost me over £5,000 in repairs at both independent & dealers networks.
Mine has a full service history at a reputable main dealers and I look after my cars, never off road it etc. So as far as I'm concerned it can't be a sole family car, you need a backup car for when it's broken down & being repaired. As far as what breaks, if it moves it will probably break at some point.
Have a look at the posts & you'll see just about every car has at least one problem & most of us have a list of stuff to do. Then you've got the fuel consumption, I drive very slow & only get 16mpg out of my V8 petrol.
Having said all that they are a very nice car to look at on the drive and they drive OK. If you bear that in mind and go into ownership with your eyes open you should be fine. Range Rover 4.4 V8 Vogue

Do bear in mind that there are probably lots of owners out there with perfectly reliable cars which don't break down.
However, they aren't on here, as they don't need to be on here. Looking for problem FFs on here is like going to a doctors surgery, and seeing if you can find people who are ill.

That's because they don't drive Land Rovers

or you could just look at all the reliability surveys, if someone asks for help choosing a car they should know the reality As an ex mechanic I thought I knew how unreliable they are, however they even surprised me  Range Rover 4.4 V8 Vogue

We've all heard horror stories. However my experience has been quite the opposite. We've had eleven Range Rovers and two Discovery's over the years and apart from normal servicing and minor faults no issues at all with the Range Rovers.
My wife's current Discovery 4 however suffered a catastrophic engine failure three months ago with 85k miles on the clock.
No problem, Land Rover authorised a new engine and turbo replacement the same day and it was back on the road by the next weekend.

I've had different Range Rovers for the last 20 years. This one is my 9th or 10th. It's a 2004 V8 petrol. I've had it 15 months, and done 50,000 miles in it. It's never let me down. I've always got where I was going.

It's had it's share of things needing replacing though - Torque Converter recently and a new compressor for the air suspension. Other than that it's been tyres, brakes and petrol only.

They are easy to work on - everything is big and easily accessible - compared to a lot of modern cars.

Get one and enjoy it. If you can do your own repairs, or at least suss out what's wrong, so much the better.

3 years of ownership no major probs so far 75000 kms on the clock  All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

I will do some reading, more, and se what I end up with.
But, it still is a nice car.
Also, I belve, a solid one when it comes to crash safety, witch is also important to me.

It will be a bit stronger when you hit an elk thats for sure and more likely cause the elk to roll over the car from the front

The TDV8 is strong but look to flush the gearbox oil if you can in your location and the diff's as well as the winters being harsher in your neck of the world won't do the oils any good

Also fit a Bosch S5 or Varta 110AH battery to get the use out of the FBH and save you rigging up any pre-warmers  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.

You can't go wrong with a Land Rover product.

I've had over 10 in the last 14 years and never really had a major problem. Just get a warranty for piece of mind.
You will find nearly all the answers to nearly all you questions on here.

FFRR ownership is the way to go.

Used RR prices are just SCARY in Norway...that 2007 will you about the same as a 6-8 month old one in the UK...think I've only seen 2 in the last 4 years I've been over here.. Just mental.. '08 Audi S6 Avant 5.2 V10 with Milltek non-resonated. Vrrrrrrmmmmmph

My 2008MY TDV8 is the best car I've had, it pulls like a train, is smooth as silk up to 130mph, has every toy you need and cruises beautifully.

I have only had a split PAS pipe and a new alternator in 60,000 miles (100K)
