Whilst out and about the other day, I had cause to stop this vehicle. Can anyone see why?

It had a bearing on it's removal, yes. DVLA agreed that even if it wasn't modded like this, from a distance it still looks like POLICE so they took it off their list. I was bidding for 3 OLX at last months DVLA Auction (Really disappointed I wasn't successful but it was between myself and on other person - sold on 1 bid above my limit)

I dont know why the DVLA auction off plates that they know will be modified

I thought that a reg plate was to identify the car and most people will recognise a car with

POL1CE rather than POL 10E but i know alot of modify and take the mick - normally chavy boyracers etc.. with different fonts aswell or black plates on black cars

I dont really see the harm that POL1CE was doing really

It never fails to amaze me how many people 'play' with their reg numbers, and seem to get away with it...
As for putting classic black and silver plates on black cars...

I have plates that don't need messing with I know this because people pont and smile - which means, without playing with spacing or coloured screw caps - IT WORKS!

I certainly agree with it with some drivers though. You see some horrendous jiggery pokery with number plates. Just looking at some of the crap theyre trying to pass off as lookylikey on ebay (for example K70NYG looks like tony apparently). Ebay is littered with crap "private" plates like that

That is just a tiny bit cynical.... It is ultimately DVLA that remove the right to use the plate, the police just report it. Plus I think a cop would be pretty sad to have that as a number plate!!

That was a legitimate number plate after all.

If the DVLA issued it then its fair game.

You should have issued a warning to remove the jiggery pokery and have been done with it.

I cannot see why its clever losing somebody hard earned money paid in good faith for a legal plate.

My guess is you would have bought it if it was cheap enough and available to you.....

I have plates with no "alterations" but just felt this guys plate wasnt a bad offender and should have been left alone in my opinion unless he was guilty of other offences too?

I have been stopped by police before as one of my plates was the name of a famous celebrity and they wanted to check it out! When they found out she wasnt driving they said they were concerned about the spacing. It turned out to be correct so they wasted their time and more importantly mine when they should have been doing something useful. I was not amused !

For the record i was on a motorway returning from a DVLA auction and doing 65 mph on the inside lane and no offences commited.

This guy was racing up behind people and flashing his lights, making them slow down so he could pass them. There were a lot of complaints about this individual. From the front and looking in a rear view mirror, you'd struggle to say it was a convertible.

There is an offence of impersonating a Police Officer and that includes "any act".

There is no other reason to buy this plate other than for it to read POLICE (as you can see from the photos). Why else would you buy it? Just look at the font he's used - he's lucky he wasn't arrested.

BTW, it wasn't me that got DVLA to cancel it. That request had already been made by traffic who had already issued him with tickets for the plate. Yet he continued to drive with it on in this manner. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded
