They are indeed lights which are activated when you unlock the car.

This was asked recently and we never got an answer from the chap taking them apart and the owners manual and workshop manual do not state how its done.

hi, they are the same as the x5, you get to them by removing the back cover of the mirror ,heres a link, if you are changing them,go for the led ones far brighter then standard but still not as good as the 06 on mirrors

thanks, i have looked for a suitable led but am baffled by the choice, would someone be really helpfull here and post a link to the correct led bulb that will fit and work and not give error messages.
