Does this unit actually start a totally dead, cold FFRR diesel?
Seems a lot of work for a 34Ah battery.

afaik there's a 'method' using these and thats letting the powerpack charge the battery for 10 minutes before trying to start the car...

is that the case Gary? ... - .- -.

I have used it on V8 FFRR, D3, Mustang V8, Campervan and other big engines with all starting first touch of the key....

It has a cold crank of 400amps Thumbs Up

PS: Stan - in my use it has worked first time every time with no warm up period.

I think they are designed for a big "Cold Crank" rather than continual use as in a car.

I've carried one of these in the back of the car for a couple of years - actually 3 years. Looked after it - take it indoors once every 6 weeks to charge it up all nice and fresh (if it's not been used for anything). And it's great - except the only time I've ever needed it to jump start a car (used it for lighting, inflating, powering freesat box when camping etc) the damn thing failed. Wouldn't even recharge, as the internal battery had just died without warning - which modern batteries tend to do.

Bought a battery for it off eBay - but not sure if it was worth the effort, as in three years when I need it again it will be dead!

^ as posted earlier these packs are designed for maximum cold crank and not for long term use as a power source for a fridge of SAT TV. A leisure Battery (Yellow Top) would make more sense.

Used as a jump start tool only they are excellent otherwise I would not have recommended them.

I agree - jolly useful - but they do seem to give little warning when they are going to die!

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue

We've got that exact one, it's a really good piece of kit.

It has started 3 4.6 V8 P38's in a row for me before that were so flat the lights on the dashboard didn't even come on. It's also done my friends 4.4 V8 Petrol L322 before now as well without breaking a sweat.

If it'll do that with no recovery time in between I don't see a TDV8 being much of a problem for it.

We've had several different ones over the years but this one is by far the most reliable.
