Timing chain query

Hi Folks ,
I'm aware that the TD6 3.0 uses timing chains as opposed to belts and have noted on the forum that as they are chains it has been suggested that they are OK for the life of the engine, but looking on other forums it seems that BMW recommend they are changed at @100k miles and my Main Dealer recommends changing at the 7yr 105k service . Luckily I'm on this service but only at 81k miles so don't need them yet anyway. Has anybody changed the timing chains as part of their service (I have had them changed twice on my other car - but only because the engine was being rebuilt each time so was recommended)?
Cheers Steve

Timing chains are known to be very reliable (as opposed to belts) and especially the AJV8 engine has got a good reputation on that. The original engine has some issues with the chain tensioner but in the versions in our cars that has been resolved (doesn't help the TD6 owners).

Anyway, I wouldn't touch the chains unless the engine has a lot of running hours and is being opened up anyway or the chains are rattling (tensioner gone). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
