100% agree!!!

At the moment, no.

But there are some nice luxury 4x4s on the way from Bentley etc...

You mention the addition of "the remote control of the air suspension when hitching the trailer" but that is already on the L322.

Fox, if the artists design of the Bentley 4x4 that was published a while a go is anything to go by, well then I'd rather keep mine for a long long time Laughing

The Bentley is only ever going to be a pretend off-roader for the Chinese and criminals from the Caucasus. I doubt any of the new rivals will provide similar off-road ability - maybe the rumoured big Mercedes will be the closest in that respect.

Regarding the original point, there's no question to my mind that the exterior design of the new car does not have the dignity of the original L322.

Well spotted on the air suspension remote adjustment. I stand corrected.

I didn't think 90% of Range Rover customers ever tackled more than a curb and a bit of grass.

Without the off-road ability it isn't a Range Rover and wouldn't have its reputation, whether it's used or not (although I do question why people who never leave tarmac buy them).

The Bentley R&D boss has already said it won't match the Range Rover off-road.

Not match but I bet it works. Most RR buyers are interested in Road presence over 4X4 ability.

Not really the point. A Range Rover without the off-road ability (see the 2WD Chavjoke) isn't a Range Rover. Says more (less?) about the people who buy them for those reasons.

If Patek started making watches with ETAs in them, what would happen to their reputation and image? Bentley don't face the same issue because off-road ability isn't one of the tenets of their brand.

I think we arguing to agree Laughing

My only point was I think the new Bentley will have an off-road ability albeit not as good the RR. Thumbs Up

The supposed Dakar entry for EXP 9F/Falcon/whatever is presumably an attempt to give it some credibility, but it will be one of those spaceframe "Touareg" racers underneath, just like the road car will be on the next Touareg/Q7/Cayenne platform.

And therefore do everyting 99% of Range Rover owners need.

I agree with Gary/Gazellio, people buy a Range Rover for the image and road presence.
Especially all the new cusomers, most of which will only use them on the road.
The Evoque is proof you can stick the badge with 4x4 heritage on a new model, make it 2WD and sell it in droves!
