Hey folks, I think the sensor in my spare tyre has definitely broken therefore I need to replace it

Would this work in my 2007 3.6 TDV8?

FWIW I had about 18 months of messing about trying to get rid of the "Check Spare Tyre Pressure" message on start-up. I replaced the sensor twice, firstly with one off the bay and then (convinced it was a cheap rip-off copy) I bought a genuine LR one. Neither fixed it permanently. Every time I had the spare wheel out the message would come back. When I changed between winter and summer wheels it would come back. In fact, if a fly farted 300 miles away the message would come back.

The bit I don't get is where the sensor is for the spare. All the 4 on the car have hall effect things riveted onto the back of the arch liners. A LR Tech told me it was in the rear view mirror which I found highly unlikely, but then again, LR have been know to do the odd daft thing.

End result was I bought the IID tool and turned off TPMS. Now I can change between winter and summer wheels without living in fear of the dreaded bong.

This ^^^^ is exactly my fear! Although the part is just shy of £20 I really don't want to shell out on something if its not going to work. It won't just be £20 it will be the time to take it a garage to have the thing swapped out and replaced. My initial thought was how do I disable this as I think it's slight (just slight) over engineering! Clever but causes me panic each time I turn the car on now, although i'm used the warning I really don't want to see it!
On the flip side if £20 fixes it then it's top banana!
Could you PM me the IID tool you purchased and where from ?

I got mine through a group buy on another site and paid £250 inc vat & delivery. Britpart are the exclusive UK distributors apparently but you can get them on the bay etc. It's more than the 20 quid for a sensor, which would be 40 quid plus the shouting once you have the tyre removed and refitted etc, but the upside of having the tool is the ability to diagnose faults, reset certain things including the oil service counter, air suspension etc. Nice to have in the glovebox so when the car craps itself (as they do from time to time) you don't necessarily need to get towed to a dealer.

Alternatively you could find someone with any of the other diagnostic tools and get them to turn off the TPMS by editing it in the CCF so the car thinks it's not fitted.

I've got a couple of genuine sensors without the valve stems (background: tyre fitter broke the stems when changing tyre, I didn't want to faff about with reprogramming new ones, so I swapped the stems over).

I could send you one of my sensors for you to try....easy to stick your existing stem on, and you know its genuine LR part. If it works give donation to heart research charity...

I bought a set of 5 from this seller to put on my 'winter wheels' - worked fine and all other than the spare have auto reset themselves

Hi I've pumped the tyre up past 42 psi to make sure it was above the amount to trigger the alarm this hasn't worked as i said in a previous post

New sensor then or IID tool to switch the system off.

After all the research I did on the TPMS system, I decided that although it is a good system, I didn't want to risk a valve breaking while I was belting along at 60, so have switched it off with the IID tool and put in rubber valves

TPMS is such a crock of . I absolutely HATE it with a passion. It's the one and only reason my next car might not be a Vogue SE.
