Yes it's fine when it's started. And it starts ok after that, its just when you first start

Have you checked the fuel lines, sounds like it could be leaking back towards the tank due to an air leak at a joint |

I haven't checked for a air leak. I don't know where to

Start at the filter, if you can see air bubbles then you have a leak |

You can, there's the leak off test where you attach a tube to each injector and put the other end in a jar. You then start the engine and see which injector fills the jar. That's the dodgy one. |

If it runs smoothly, cold or hot, when it does start, what you are saying is you think the injector is faulty but it starts working perfectly when the car starts. I have a problem with that. I think the fault is elsewhere. Previously..

Would definately do a leak back test on the injectors. seen this a few times before on common rail diesels including the ffrr. if an injector leaks back too much it stops the fuel pressure building up in the rail as quick which delays the start. when its running the engine speed is fast enough to give enough pressure therefore run ok. dont think the kits are expensive either. either that, you could connect a diagnostics and watch the fuel pressure in the fuel rail building when cranking it over. it should raise pretty quick. the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pumps could also cause this. among other things no doubt |

Worth checking that the new glowplugs are working too. |
