United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Buckingham Blue

I see what Trommel is getting at in his last post, but the comparisons are not quite right. You need to compare an older Rolex with a new Rolex, not the fake one. They are both still a Rolex......an earlier L322 is still a Range Rover, not a fake one.

To be fair, with me, its not a snob thing, at least I don't think it is (!) but when I'm sat in traffic and I look round at other cars, I often wonder why someone would spend all that money on whatever car they are in, when you could have a Range Rover, which does everything you could need, except being cheap to run.

By rights, I'd imagine an X5 would suit my driving style better, I don't go off road, and if you factor in I've got no kids or animals, I could have a 2 seater..........

I like driving the Range Rover. It has a "well being" feeling to it. I don't have to prove anything, When they've all finished cutting one another up and racing from traffic lights, I just carry on, no fuss, no drama. Safe in the knowledge that whatever I'm faced with, the RR will tackle it.

But I'm also someone that probably wouldn't buy a Boxter as its not a 911, even though I'm told the Boxter is a better balanced car. I'd probably have an X5 over an X3.......

We are all petrol heads here, by definition, so cars matter to us. Financially I should be driving a small beat up diesel french thing. but I like to have a higher driving position, arrive where I'm going without feeling I've gone from A to B in a spin dryer, so an RR it is for me.

I've also spent a daft sum of money on LINN Hi-Fi since 1997, because I like to try and get the best I can with the money I can afford.

There - talked myself into a 2012 facelift corner now....... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

It's not a perfect analogy. How about a 1675 GMT with a 1655 Explorer dial, hands and bezel? Cheaper watch attempting to impersonate a more expensive one - ultimately less desirable than either.
