Nobody is saying the 2002 one is better or the same as the 2012 model, that's obvious

Do you think a 520d is just as desirable as an M5? C180 as desirable as a C63?

Depreciation is a pointless argument, a 4.4 Vogue cost £60k new back in 2003. New cars lose money, fact of life.

Once they get down to 8-10K they will not depreciate much more, 2012 is losing money faster than it uses fuel, same with pretty much any new car especially when the new model is coming out making the lod one look like it is 13 years old not 13months Big Cry No a 520 is not as desirable as an M5 but there again it doesnt do what an M5 does Wink a 2002 RR will do pretty much whatever a 2012 will in pretty much the same comfort and speed, theres not much diff in speed between them in fact my 4.4 when put next to a mates LRS TDV8 there was nothing in it. So find a better comaparison like is an old M5 as desirable as a late one? again not much in it Shocked One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Exactly Im saying its not 70K better (2012>2002) I bought mine as I do a lot of towing I would rather have my 2002, 35ft RV, TR6, drag car and a couple of my bikes for the same money Thumbs Up And I dont look down on people who would love a newer version of their car but maybe can never achieve that so label them as council estate conversions !!!!!! The strange thing is I went to public school and absolutly hate that particular part of society, constantly trying to out do each other and mocking people with less than the privileged few, I went to school with princes and some real wealthy kids yet most of my true friends are from guess what council estates or the lower pay scale of things. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

It doesn't look too bad, but its really not my bag.

But one word in that advert puts me off immediately. He calls the thing a J**p! It's like calling a Scottish single malt a whiskey. Cretin! Mr. Green Si. <This is my name.

Johnny I agree with you 100% even if I could afford a new one I would rather have the money in the bank and use the 02 plate for whatever and not lose any money having it. Trommel has probably lost about £800 on his while we've been discussing this matter Rolling with laughter

The seller is actually Scottish, however there is a certain group of people in (particularly) Glasgow that calls anything 4WD a "Jeep", I'll leave you to figure out what certain group that might be..................... Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

So we've ascertained that you think old models are largely as good, to all intents and purposes, as new ones. That's fine if we're not dealing in absolutes, after all a £7k Range Rover was a £60k Range Rover once (although on the same basis, you could make a case for something like a Nissan X-Trail instead - only a couple of seconds slower to 60, only a couple of dB louder on the motorway, only a couple of inches less ground clearance etc.).

So why the desire to tart up an old one in an attempt to make it look like a new one? Who are you trying to convince? You're getting absolutely none of the benefits of the newer car, just some twinkly lights and a flashier grille.

Surely the grounded, salt-of-the-earth types you associate with would see that as a pretty desperate attempt at the sort of shallow one-upmanship you so despise. Appearance or substance?

Im sure your 2011 is far superior to all the other RR's on this forum but what if people prefer the look of the 2012 as i actually do think it looks far nicer but dont want a 70K motor they are always worried about, like I said I would rather have a whole bunch of toys than one depreciating old shape that a lot of people prob think is actually a 2002 ish year one. i'll keep a look out for a plate for you SNOB 1 One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

How about trying to respond to the points I made rather than shooting your own feet?

It is of absolutely no concern to me if someone thinks a car of mine is older than it is. Could not care less - which is why I'm not trying to pretend the opposite by glueing on bits from a newer model.

And, just so you don't waste any time, SNOB 1 isn't a valid UK format. Thanks for the thought though.

What points would those be and why are you so worried that someone with a 10K car parked next to yours is getting the same reaction as yours does, even a RR owner though it was a 2010> I think being an apparently inteligent chap you have realised that your council estate conversion comment has prob alienated you from a large % of this BBS Thumbs Up One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!
