England 2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

You would need to find someone close to you with the same model FFRR and see if you can try it, what year is the car? A stereo shop may have one you can borrow, does the cartridge eject ok? One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

The Cartridge seems to work fine, it seems to accept the CD's and you can hear the CD unit loading and then stop, when you select CD on the Head Unit it just says "No Discs"

When you insert the cartridge but don't slide the cover across, you can see the mechanism selecting each level, all 6 are looked at but you do not see or hear a CD being pulled into the mechanism. Looks or sounds like the mechanism is jamming at that point.

Cheers for your help, it does sound mechanical I guess.

Did you have a think about that extra aerial lead I mentioned, just dangling. Radio works fine without it connected

maybe it had a Tracker at sometime that would have a GPS connection, you need to think about a MK4 sat nav as you seem into your gadgets, do a search on here. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Cheers mate

Your help is really appreciated. I'm making a list of things I need and a MK 4 DVD Nav System is going on the list. I'm going to try and get everything I have already working first so I know where to go next. Had the car for a couple of days and I think it just needs a lot of loving. If the CD unit is knackered then I'll also go the way you were thinking and get the CD changer that plays MP3 as well although a Bluetooth Music streamer would be better to stream directly from the iphone.

There is a few things to do with the Entertainment system I still don't understand. I believe there is a radio unit in the boot and an amp I think, it would be great if someone had a photo of their installation in the boot and a list of each item that is supposed to be there. The info I'm getting on here is slowly sinking in but there is a lot to it.
The standard system is obviously good but it just needs updating. My screen also looks a bit worn which is a shame, not sure why as it's not a touch screen, it would be nice if it looked a bit cleaner.

Hi Paul,

Been out all day - looks like you are getting somewhere.

The cd magazine is the same on a Discovery 2 if it helps, at least mine was, though the connectors may be different on the actual cd unit.

Baris on here may be able to supply you a Mk4 nav and an upgrade to your radio unit (the power amp is inside the BM54 radio). He also has a mod to allow bluetooth streaming which could be of use to you. The DSP is just a signal processor...........

If you could post pics of the wires it'd help us to see what you've got.

Thanks for that. I have a spare Disco 2 CD cartridge and unit. Tried that cartridge but just the same. It looks like the CD changer isn't grabbing each CD slider, so nothing goes into the actual CD reader.
